At Home Guest House

I love staying at At Home Guest House. It really lives up to its name! Surie and Aashna are such welcoming hosts, and they go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and have everything you need to really feel ‘at home’. Surie gave us heaps of suggestions and advice for our travels throughout Nepal and into Bhutan, which really enhanced our travel experience. He has so many contacts in Kathmandu and other places, and generously helps to arrange activities and transport for you when you ask. Breakfast and laundry are included in your stay. It was so nice to have proper home cooked food, and there were always croissants and good coffee at breakfast! The guest house is clean and tidy and has everything you could want, including good sized rooms and balconies on each floor. The location is great. The Jhamsikhel / Sanepa area is a great alternative to Thamel, which I find to be overly touristy and chaotic. The guest house is located in a more suburban area of Kathmandu, which is quieter but still centrally located so easy to get to all main attractions and the airport. There are lots of nice cafes and restaurants nearby. There are a large number of expats living in the area, so there are options that cater more to westerners but you can still easily find a more traditional local experience. At Home Guest House is a lovely oasis in the heart of busy Kathmandu and really does feel like a home away from home. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Kathmandu.
