This resort awesome. The grounds are beautiful and kept up very well. The beach is perfect and being cleaned everyday. The employees are like family. The front desk people are all kind and accommodating. Brian (bellman) and others greet you with a smile and a hug. Alway willing to help with anything you might need. Around the pool are…Gaspar, Marco, Rodrigo,Carlos,Jesus, these men work hard with a smile and willingness to make your time at the pool or beach great. I appreciate these men so much. As well as the pool cleaners as they’ve got a big job everyday. The waiters are great, always there to take an order… but not annoying you if you are just relaxing. They are helpful and you can tell they enjoy their job. Joaquin and Jared, are always willing to go beyond serving to moving chairs around to accommodate groups. We stayed at the Raintree for one week. there werent many people there so it was very quiet. Located on the Marina, we were able to view boats for tours and fishing to come and go, so that was wonderful.
Their sister resort Club REgina was across the road.

Stay at Raintree

One positive: The pizza by the adjacent Raintree pool is excellent. 
We are guests of a timeshare/club owner. From the moment we arrived, we have been harassed, threatened about being required to attend a “free breakfast.” It started at checkin when the fake concierge (actually a consignment salesman) wanted to do the pitch right there, even though we were stumblingly exhausted from trying to locate their $22 plus tip to both driver and handler (it’s mentioned in their welcome email). Going rate is $10 for the cab and 10 pesos for the bus. The first morning, we were awoken by three phone calls demanding that we come to free breakfast. The third one told us that our city tour for the next day was cancelled and we were to be at breakfast at 8 am. By day four, we went to the office and told them again, that being our first time ever in Puerto Vallarta, we would never “ get married on a first date.”

Besides the constant barrage, the room had been recently sprayed. There were dead King Roaches everywhere. I asked if housekeeping could pass through and was told there would be a charge for additional housekeeping. Was so annoyed that we are residing with them in-situe and eating all meals out. 

There is no gym, the pool is a giant birdbath in the late afternoon, amusing to watch, but don’t want to swim in their aftermath. There are not enough people here, so neither the bar nor the restaurant is open.  If you want your scuba boat to pick you up from the Villa Vera dock because you don’t want to haul gear, you have to use their overpriced and not highly rated scuba connection. We didn’t and got screamed at by the Villa Vera security guard who also called the harbor master to complain about “outsiders” using the dock. Hey, we are guests, not outsiders. 

Our bedroom overlooks the bus turn around. They are noisy as the drivers take their breaks and the buses make normal bus noises. Even the in-unit air conditioner cannot drown them out. And, the balcony never gets sun. So, we are wearing jackets to have morning coffee. All balconies overlook the swimming pool. Since there are so few guests here, I would have thought we might have been given a fourth floor with a larger view, but I guess the sales staff want us right by the office so they can magically appear every time we go out.

You can pay a tip and ride the golf cart (after waiting 18 minutes for it to appear) to the adjacent Raintree Westin resort, where you will find restaurants serving okay food, weak drinks in tiny glasses, and fully occupied beach lounge chairs by retired folks. The pool is surrounded by wheelchairs and walkers. The conversation is about when did you buy, where are you from, and then a whole series of crabby conversations. We tried to escape to the in-pool bar, but the water was cold. Again, the pizza was excellent. 

Every service person wants to be paid in cash. This includes the bar staff, the restaurant staff, the massage folks. In fact, two of them refused to let us put the tab on our room, until we pointed out that we were in swim attire and carried only hats, key and expired sunscreen (That’s a Facebook story). 

We walked into several other hotels, thinking we might abandon the Villa Vera. The very American Sheridan has a wider range is ages and has live music in multiple places ever night. The Bonaventure is on the beach and is very elegant with no walkers or wheelchairs. Met lots of folks who rented a house and were doing stuff on the public beaches. Would be my suggestion.

There are better places to stay: Sheridan, Bonaventure, AirBnB

Let’s say I’m happy we are only spending two night here before we settle in to our usual place. This is located right on the access to the marina and my husband could watch the boat traffic all day. We are sitting out by the pool and have not seen a personal property all morning. The pool actually looks very nice but the water is cool and the air has also been cool lately. 

On to the room. The floor was dirty and the amenities minimal. What used to be a kitchenette has turned into a refrigerator only. The sink has been removed as well as no micro or stove top. The toilet bowl actually had dried on poop on the front of it. I’m waiting to see if it disappears today. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were small and too thick for me. I ended up sleeping on nothing instead of getting a sore neck. Tonight I’m going to sleep on my jacket. The room has a coffee pot but no coffee and there is none in the lobby. The floor areas in room and out need more than sweeping. I don’t know when they were last damp moped. With such a great location I don’t know why they don’t put more effort into maintaining and cleaning the place. 

The workers were all very friendly and helpful. 

The picture is of a defunct pool bar and a nice pool that’s not being used. Then comes the room floor and the toilet bowl😩. 

A place for the location and not the room. 

This resort is not very big but it overlooks the marina. It has 3 swimming pools, one of which has a small bridge across it. From the resort, you can see all the tourist boats sailing back and forth.  You can also see the shops and offices across the harbour. The bus terminates outside the resort  so it is a convenient place to stay if you do not have a car. The bus takes you all the way downtown and it costs 71/2 pesos. It also takes you to Walmart where you can get your groceries. Further down the road, there are a few shops and restaurants. Across the street, are the Westin and Mayan Palace. All the rooms here are studios. It is a quiet place to stay.

Our vacation was in October, 2017.  There was eight of us in our group.  The hotel first set us up in four hotel rooms but our reservation was for four one bedroom units.  We wanted the units close together. Because we went in off season, they were able to accommodate us.  I believe we were the only guests in the hotel until about the 4th day in.  We loved the pool which we had to ourselves most of the time.  We were able to use the amenities at the sister resort across the street which we did most every day. This hotel is on the marina side but you can go across the street to their sister resort to get to the ocean. Gabriel Orbz was the front desk person most of the time we were there.   He was most helpful with whatever we asked of him.  We would stay here again.

Older but quiet

We paid for rooms #115 and #116 yesterday May 21,1017.  When we entered the rooms I screamed "no way" will I stay in this disgusting resort.  No wifi, hard beds, old furniture, filthy doors and generally semi clean.  My tv in the bedroom was the old box, at least 25 years old with a bad picture.  I wouldn't stay there for free.  No restaurant, no conveniences, three umbrellas at the pool, fountains lacking water, uneven sidewalks. Can I say more.  

They should demolish the place or spend a couple of million to refurbish ..Stay away!!
