Really beautiful resort would recommend for family or couples, the pools and restaurants are great. Access to the beach is realy nice, the DJ by the pool makes the day go by too fast. It was a great experience would highly recommend it

Last min get away excellent property

I won a 5 night stay to a Vidanta property, I chose Mayan Palace as the location. The package advertised a vacation for 4.  Vidanta is not all inclusive, so we knew we would have to pay our way. We opted to extend our stay and additional two nights. 
Over and above our extra two nights we were assessed a $200 resort fee, we paid $22 per day in taxes.  Our ride from the airport was complimentary, we paid $30 for a ride for two back.
Our overall review of our vacation/experience was 4/5 *.All in all we had a great time and would return to this resort again if we had similar circumstances. My favorite part was the beauty of the resort, the nature.  There were quite a few timeshare guests very happy having returned many times. They had much nicer suites with more rooms and there is a lot to do if you need entertainment or have kids.  I would upgrade our room next time. Because we weren’t sure how much we were going to spend, we just kept our most basic room. After all was said and done, our bill came to $1,500 for the week (not bad). We never looked at prices, we drank a lot, but we didn’t go crazy eating and didn’t use the spa. The staff were very friendly and accommodating for the most part. Our vacation was very relaxing. I would rate this experience an 7.5/10. We actually had a great week.

To much walking to  get any where in the resort. Hard sell to get you to buy into resort. Very difficult to get hot water in bathroom or kitchen.  Very rocky in the beach water. You really can't do any swimming.  Nothing for teenagers to do. Didn't tell me how to acquire swimming pool cabanas around pool.  Hard to find out by asking another guest.  They had a  RCI desk but it was never maned.

A long walk

This place was built around the jungle.  You felt like it was authentic. The rooms in the Mayan Palace need some updating.  The lamps were broken and the TVs were struggling.  The couch cushions were replaced but no longer fit.  The couch should just be replaced.  For the money, I expected better quality.  The rooms are a great size and the bed was comfortable.

Truly Staying in a Jungle

We just got back from our honeymoon there last week. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the property itself is very lush and pretty with the landscape and the food/food servers were great.

Cons:  1) I told the front desk numerous times that it was our honeymoon and if they can do something special for us and they promised they would. They promised us balloons, towel decorations, rose petals, champagne. We get back to our room and All we ended up getting was a small piece of old cake on our table. Not even a note saying congratulations. I had to ask multiple times because they would forget. 
We got more decorations and special treatment at the RIU that we stayed at a few days prior.

2) Worst.Beds.Ever. If you're someone who has trouble sleeping on a bed that's nowhere near comfortable, this place is not for you. It was like sleeping on a table. We had 4 sleepless nights. and the bed did not even have fitted sheets, just a flat sheet that didn't even fit on the mattress and you can see the ends of it.  The room was also pretty outdated. The shower tub was on the verge of breaking, it had a crack at the edge of it. and the shower faucet almost fell out when I pulled it back to run the water. 

3) Too much walking. They placed us in one of the furthest buildings from the tram station, which was like a 15 minute walk. Believe me, that walk back after a long day of excursions is excruciating. They should have more trams that are closer to those far away buildings. 

4)The food was great, but quite overpriced, and they don't let you pay for your food right then and there. Everything has to be charged to your room and you get a giant bill when you check out.
