Rather than reiterate the many positives that have been expressed about Casa Selva Orquideas (all of which I wholeheartedly agree with), I'll just say that in 20 years of leading nature-based trips in Latin America, this is one of my favorite places to share with my groups.  Away from the crowds, beautifully done, a home-like atmosphere, and surrounded by great natural beauty and diversity.   Tulum has become very crowded and busy, and this offers a peaceful alternative.  Erika, Chito, and Juan are exceptionally good at what they do, and just fun people to be around.  I fell very fortunate to have met them five years ago and have been bringing groups every year.

One of my favorites

Had a verry good time here. You can expect a small hotel in the nature half the way from Tulum to Coba. Our cabana was spacious, the bed comfie. On the terrasse we had a chair and basically a full kitchen incl. fridge. We felt almost like living in a familly together with Erica, Chito and Juan. Got good advices from Erika too. What you can not expect: 24/7 service, aircon, minibar. And you will not find an award winning kitchen. Everything is down to earth. We loved it!

Relaxing days in the nature

Wander off the tourist path and enter a jungle oasis where you will be met with nature at it's finest. Awaken to the sounds of bird song, take a dip in a cavernous pool, relax under the shade of these ancient trees. Erika's attention to detail has helped manifest this magical place- from the well-curated decor to the rich foliage, her home is truly any traveler's dream. Erika and Chito are warm and helpful, welcoming and informative, and open to accommodating their guests. Make a reservation to leave your reservations behind and treat yourself to this charming retreat- you deserve it!

Enchanting tropical paradise!

We stayed at Casa Selva Orquideas for two weeks on our trip to the Yucatan. We loved it so much that we are planning to come again and again. The cabanas and rooms are comfortable and stylish and the grounds offer everything you need to relax and enjoy. There was a pool for my kids, hammocks, and lounge chairs all in a lovely jungle setting. Erika and Chito are wonderful hosts and suggested places to visit that weren't in the guide books. Thanks to Erika, we saw a beautiful cenote and were the only ones there for the entire time. We woke up to delicious breakfasts prepared by Juan and often chose to stay in for dinner because his food was so good. We also loved that Casa Selva was 15 minutes from Tulum, away from the noise and tourism, but close enough to enjoy the beaches and sites. My kids played soccer with the local children and and we all felt a connection to the local community, something we wouldn't have experienced in Tulum. I can't recommend Casa Selva enough. We will definitely be back!

Idyllic place and lovely hosts

A  little piece of paradise, 15 minutes from Tulum and a world away from the traffic and hype.  Juan, kind and gentle, is a wizard cook who let me watch him prepare shrimp achiote, then served it to us beside that gorgeous natural pool. Erica knows the best cenotes, beaches, , shops, even  an authentic Mayan medicine man for the most amazing massage ever.  Comfy room up in the trees, tropical birds, a loco burro - a perfect stay.

A perfect jungle retreat

If you are someone who is afraid of bugs and needs a luxury hotel, stay in Cancun!

From the moment you enter the property, you will feel like you are living in the jungle. The beautiful nature is cared for with pride and is the perfect marriage between comfort and natural beauty. Fall asleep to the sounds of the insects and critters and waken to the songs of the many types of birds. The beds are comfy, hot showers and beautiful yet simply adorned Cabañas for up to 4 people. A car is necessary to enjoy the adventures that your hostess Erika can arrange. Our group traveled to a remote Mayan village to explore a cenote that hardly any other tourist has ever visited. We ate lunch with a Mayan family and learned how to make tortillas. She can guide you to the perfect place to lounge on a beach or to hike, swim, snorkel or shop! 

Spend a morning relaxing by the pool carved out of the rocks or reading in a hammock while the resident dogs make you feel at home. Juan makes DELICIOUS breakfasts and the margaritas are out of this world. 

This was my second visit, and I was glad to help collaborate by bringing some supplies for the children’s center for the village kids that Erika has so generously started. Throw a few packs of pencils or markers in your bag- or ask her what they need. Leave a positive mark on the town of Macario Gomez. 

Honestly I can not wait to go back. It’s simply paradise. The one negative review on here? I’m guessing the guest would have been more comfortable in a different environment. Clearly everyone else is happy! I know I sure love the place!
