Posada Chichén Itza is a nice clean place to stay. The breakfast are good. Pancakes or eggs depending on the day. They have dorm rooms which are good value and private rooms as well. I have stayed here on 3 occasions. Always relaxing. One early evening, while relaxing in one of the hammocks I saw a Toucan in the trees above. Lots of geckos in the gardens out back.

Amazing, family owned hostel.  The owner and his mom and very friendly and helpful, living on location and doing everything possible to make the guests stay memorable.  They speak spanish and speak very good english as well.  The place is located near many supermarkets, restaurants and bus routes that can take you anywhere your want in the city at very low cost.  Very clean rooms, bathrooms and common areas.  I highly recommend that place!!

Nice place to relax

Friendly and amazing place!

Asked help from the owner to book a taxi to the airport the night before departure. At first he quoted 250 pesos which was overpriced and I said I would find a taxi on my own. Then suddenly his friend showed up and was willing to charge only 150 pesos because, according to the owner, they were friends. I was told to pay the driver directly the next morning. The next morning another guest from the posada showed up and told me he was sharing the taxi with me and he had already paid 150 pesos to the owner. The owner never mentioned this to me the night before.

Then even worse, his friend (the driver) did not show up! Though in the end the owner managed to call another taxi but it was like 30 minutes behind the original scheduled time! At the end of the day the driver got 150 pesos and the owner got 150 pesos for the taxi ride.

Think twice before you book anything through him.

The place is shabby but the owner's mother cooks delicious pancakes for breakfast.

Avoid booking through the owner!

It's a decent accommodation. The bed is not comfortable and it's waterproof. It's owned by a family, and they are soo friendly. That is only possible when it's family business. But I had a terrible accident there. One of the ladders to my bunk bed had been cuttet or something so it was really sharp and I got a really deep cut and passed out. I told the owner so hopefully he'll get it fixed! But they helped me clean my wound up and took me to a doctor.

The owner is really great

We had a reservation with booking at Posada ChichenItza but when we arrived, the woman told us that the room wasn’t available so she purpose us another room at « la casa del viajero » for a better room (big joke!!!!!!!!)
We are very dissappointed :
- the price is not the same. We paid to you 635pesos for 2night but it was 440 pesos 
- the confort is very different 
- no windows in the room .....
- the bed is very very very old !!!!!! It’s impossible to sleep. This morning we havé pain on our back ... really !!!! 
- we smell the kitchen 
- no « hello », no « goodbye »...
- no aeration, the night was very hot..
- no water this morning in the bathroom....!!!!!
- after the breakfast, the woman came to tap in our room to tell us to tidy up with wickedness like we are children. 
- when we left the hotel, nobody told anything to us or even to look. 

So, rooms of Posada ChichenItza can be good, but BE CARREFUL !

Strange experience !

We booked a Queen Studio through Booking.com weeks in advance. Upon arrival, we found that not only was our reservation not to be honored, but that the hotel does not even have a Queen Studio as advertised on Booking.com.
The front desk employee admitted that his boss is a liar, but he could do nothing to help our situation. We had to find last minute accommodations elsewhere.
