Stayed here on a tour of Borneo. Pergect accommodation for exploring wildlife on the river. Comfortable beds, well presented  rooms and very good food. Staff eere vert attentive and friendly. Highly recommend if doing river cruises or just wanting peace and quiet.

Jungle/river accommodation

The lodges can only be accessed by boat and considering their remoteness, we thought they were perfectly good, clean and with all you need, apart from the sloping bath shelf! A plug in mosquito repellent was available so we didn’t need the mosquito net we had brought with us. The food was good and the staff very welcoming. There are some alcohol drinks available. No wifi but a better phone signal than I have at home in the UK. The surroundings are amazing. We went for a short guided walk, following in the footsteps of pygmy elephants which we sadly did not see, but we did see a mother and baby orangutan, even though it wasn’t the fruiting season. The boat trips were superb, with excellent sightings of birds, proboscis monkey etc, and beautiful scenery. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and I would prefer to stay here rather than the (probably more luxurious) lodges on the other side of the river which can be accessed by road.

A great base for trips on the Kinabatangan River

This place is only accessible by boat, and is a riverside lodge. There's a main building with basic bar and dining room (where you have to take your shoes off).  Accommodation is in a series of detached chalets distributed around the grounds. There's no WiFi here at all, so you're off-grid.  My room was large but very basic. My bed was tiny with a thin mattress and inadequate sheets and pillows. I had a very poor night's sleep  both nights we were there. There's basic aircon, small bathroom and flushing toilet,  All the fixtures and fittings are old and tatty. THe bathroom in particular left a lot to be desired.  The "grounds" are a picture of total neglect. The food was OK, but no better.  Breakfast buffet extremely limited.  Although this place is described as "basic", that's no excuse for poor maintenance.  Whole place needs some TLC.

Poor Experience

We, family of 4, stayed at this amazing place, for the second time. One of the oldest and most unique lodges at the kinabatangan river. We stayed at chalet number 7, the family chalet. 
Remember, you are in the jungle, away from society. Power is from a generator. Staff is very hardworking and friendly. Rooms are clean, again remember, it is the jungle, so you might encounter some small creatures. 
Beds are hard, but clean. Aircon is cold. 
All the food we had was very tasty and especially the second night with very little other guests was amazing. 
The whole day was amazing, especially because we had an orangutang on the premesis of the probocis lodge and we stood there all alone with this amazing animal just meters above our heads. 
We booked through holdaygogogo, who privided us with a guide and private boat tours.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a longer trip . We arrived by boat , which in itself was exciting ! The guide came on another boat with the cases . The accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable. The food was good and plentiful and they went out of their way to cater for my gluten free needs . The staff were delightfully helpful and very cheerful . Some rooms had fridges , we were lucky, the air conditioning was very efficient . The boat trips were amazing for viewing the proboscis monkeys and macaques. We were also lucky enough to see a young male orang utan swinging through the lodges trees in the early morning as well as many monkeys after the fruit in the trees round the grounds. The insects were plentiful as would be expected so close to the river so Deet is necessary … there are no mosquito nets but we didn’t find any bugs in our room. There is no WiFi so real isolation for a couple of days ! It was a great experience . 

Great riverside experience 

We stayed two nights as part of a tour of Sabah.

The room we were allocated initially had a very noisy air con but over lunch they had prepared another suite which was fine.

The bed was very comfortable and it was nice to sit on the balcony and watch the occasional rain showers.

The dining room is open sided giving an unobstructed view of the jungle.

On an early morning walk we spotted a wild Orang Utan in the trees.

Some lodges had fridges and some didn’t. There is a water cooler in the restaurant.

The boat trips were superb.

We have read some complaints about the lodges but it is two star, is recovering from the pandemic and we had a great stay.

Great accommodation in the jungle

What an incredible place.
After catching a boat to the lodges, there are not roads, a warm welcome was waiting.
My lodge was clean and comfortable I had no complaints, you have to remember it’s only 2 star but the bed was comfortable the shower worked and there was air conditioning.
The bar is limited but again everything has to come in by boat, the food was delicious and plentiful.
I stayed as part of a Titan tour and no one had any complaints.
I would definitely stay here again.
Thanks to the staff for making it an enjoyable visit.

Incredible stay.

Food was a disgrace after watching food brought out then left open for flys and ants then go cold and reheated. I definitely wouldn't stay here again if you paid me. Absolutely awful. Bar serves just three cans of beer, stout and red wine....some bar!! Rooms were something else. please read below reviews as many were on my trip! we was utterly shocked and disappointed and on the thankfully only two nights we stayed we was offered chips instead....says it all! Good Luck anyone staying here

T T have a lot to answer for!

Stayed here for 2 nights on 12/9/22 as part of a Titan Tour. We have travelled a good deal & were aware the lodge would be basic but what we were not expecting basic & utterly filthy.
I'm guessing when the pandemic hit the lodges shut & have only opened very recently with no checks having been done.
We arrived after a long hot day travelling wanting a shower & a meal. The bathroom looked very grubby but I decided to have a shower, no chance. Switched it on, moved the shower head which fell in the shower as it was totally corroded. Finally got 2 guys to come, no ladder so they stood on the case table trying to mend it. Their answer was to bind it with black gaffer tape which stopped the water coming out at any angle. Finally agreed to move room & go to dinner in sweaty clothes. As this had taken so long when we got to the eating area the staff had left all the covers off the food with the result ants were crawling over it. Ended up with a plate of chips
Moved room & someone had removed the pillow cover & taken all bedding to out 'new' room. Please see the state of the pillows, yes you are looking at sweat, blood & crawling mould. The photo of the W.C. does not show my wee but the colour of the water, which was also the colour in the sink & coming out of the shower.
Lunch next day was 1.30 so we rocked up to see what delights awaited. Fish, chicken,rice & veg - COLD. A fellow traveller had seen this sitting for over an hour & the staff were about to put burners under to rehaet.

OMG DO NOT STAY HERE

We recently stayed here on a Titan tour for 2 nights and cant believe Titan chose this place as only 2 stars.
The lodge was dirty with an old broken fridge, stained seat pad on the chair and dirty, grim bathroom.  Couldn't wait to leave. 
We did see a wild Orangutan on one of our boat cruises which made it a little more bearable.
One couple even had their shower head come flying off and dirty stained pillow cases but staff not interested.
Beware there is a big gap between the cruises.
