This is one of the what seems a new thing self check in"hotels" where there is very rarely anybody on the desk, there are instructions to call on WhatsApp and a phone outside to contact someone for help but nobody answers either instead they send you a message saying "hello sir how can I help you? Well answering the phone would be a start! Instead you have a whole messaging conversation where you need to send passport pics and booking details to this person at the other end of a whatsapp chat so that they can eventually sort things out. At the end of a long days travelling you don't need the hassle when you just want to get to your room (see pics), shower and maybe go to bed Pictures paint a thousand words.

Simple but good value budget accommodation, and well located just outside the tourist center, easy walking distance...my double budget room was one of the cheapest I could find online, and it's also one of the few places that doesn't raise the room rates at the weekend, much appreciated coz I was here from friday till Sunday :-)
Only negative point is that the wifi didn't reach my room, but there was a common area with a comfortable sofa right beside the modem, so all ok!

Good budget option

Very good place for the price, we recommend. We were disappointed in a hotel nearby, therefore we decided to look for another hotel in the area. Luckily we found Kota lodge. The room  was good, comfortable and affordable

Really clean and affordable

Friendly staff, and nice location. Hotel is just a few blocks behind the famous Pak Putra Tandoori restaurant, and quite close to Jonker Street. But the facilities are old and some proper repair job really needed. Remember to bring along the mosquito repeller, some how mosquitoes able to sneak into the room even you have closed the door.

Cheap stay in Melaka

I lke this place. Maybe not a 5 ⭐️ hotel but it has its own charm... Firstly, the hostess is charming and staffs are friendly, whatever issues you have, they will try to assist you. Secondly, its ‘elderly friendly’. You don’t have to walk far or climb any steps... (ask for room at ground floor) and you’re there. Foodwise, so many restaurants nearby. A market in front of hotel and the best part is.. Jonker Street. Within walking distance...

simple hotel yet likeable

I spent 2 nights in this hotel. The bed was really comfortable and the staff super friendly. The hotel was located in a quiet area and not far from Chinatown. Just few minutes walking and I was in the center.  

I would come back if I am back in Melakka. 

Cheap, good located and helpfully staff

Rooms are large and affordable, also clean. The best thing, when you come to Kota Lodge, you will feel in your home. Because, people behave like your family since they are so sincere ☺ Another thing is that you can arrive all of places from this hotel by walking. Briefly, If you come to Melaka, you should choose Kota Lodge hotel to save your money, and feel good ☺

Plus: Great location. Near Jonker street and famous places. Ms.May - owner hotel very nice and polite. This is an ancient Chinese hotel.
Minus: Small room. Our group was booked 2 family rooms. 1 of there have not freeze inside. Everything in this hotel maybe "old", haha.
There is no soap in the bathroom. The towel holder almost come off. The bathroom was without a latch for a day. However the staff is friendly and helps a lot in showing the direction to go certain. Highly recommanded to those who are looking for a cheap and near jonker street to stay!!!:)

Budget hotel and friendly manager. People so great

The worst hotel I've ever had in five years of traveling. The honey-loving owner is a huge radish, for example, the cafe is saying free for pti dej, but finally only after 9am, and deju juice. Room arranged on a mezzanine, 2m50 under the ceiling, room overlooking a hallway.

It's a shame.

The initial impact was to say little negative... the kota lodge is not Spartan, it's definitely an old-fashioned place. The room wasn't tiny, but the lenses were missing (on the bed we just found a cork) and the care of the environment was definitely nonexistent (lisy towels, dangerous laundry,...), so much so that we couldn't figure out how clean it was. We stayed in a ground floor room with very thin walls, so much so that we not only perfectly heard the conversations of the neighbors but often when they opened their door they had the impression that they were entangled in our room.
