Amazing place with views from rooms and hot spring directly to the forest. If you like nature, this is place for you. Very friendly owner. Everything was superb, I enjoyed time a lot and i can highly recommend it.

The overall conditions of the hotel is very good including cleanliness, food,decoration and service. The only drawback is the hotel is a bit remote, it is inconvenient if you do not drive.

Excellent choice for relaxation

Seclude location inside forest.  It is a little difficult to find initially with only a small sign on the side road.   Unique tranquility ambiance throughout the complex. 18 modern guest houses only. 
Reception inside a log-wood house with a small library and local souvenir shop inside.  Very friendly staff offering welcome tea and local snack.  All spoke good English and showed us around before taking us to our house.  Everything explained in details.
Our room is a split level semi-attached apt with lounge, toilet, bath and in room onzen on the upper level and the twin-bed room (with toilet but no shower) plus a small tatami area on the lower level.  Generous balcony on both levels with forest view and a glimpse of the far away valley below.  Comfortable beds, quality fittings throughout and fully equipped to pamper staying guests.  Very clean and well maintained.  There is a notice advising hot spring water for onzen will stop at 11.00pm but actually available non-stop.
In the complex, there are 3 semi-open air onzen facing the forest in a lovely natural setting and 2 larger ones for the family (no view).  All are free on a first-come first serve basis.
The yummy traditional Japanese dinner has a very exquisite presentation.  We especially love the way they present the small dishes inside a cut-out long bamboo hollow 1 meter long. 
Everything is at its best....with one complaint: why would the hotel supply 'prisoner uniforms' (same for all guests) instead of the usual lovely flowery dresses as in other places? .

Relax in Tranquility

Nice friendly staff that spoke good english, took me around the place before taking me to my "house" with private onsen. The grounds were nice with a few different onsen houses. Nice and tranquil, food was also nice.

It's excellent new facilities in the quiet mountain side area.   It's modern fusion type of Ryokan.

Excellent Fusion Ryokan

We stayed at Kinmonco twice, and loved it both times. It's a short taxi ride to the ryokan, tucked away from the main area, but if you're looking for a quiet and beautiful place to stay this is the place. The food was excellent, and our little villa had its own hot spring but the family hot springs were good too. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer, and if we visit Yufuin in the future we will definitely stay here again.

Lovely stay

One of my best stay in my life. Beutiful place , nice staff, good enviroment and specially every meal was very delicous. I specially thanks to nice gentle, Nakano who provides high quality service. Must visit again with my family again. Thank you Kinmonko!

Best stay in Yufuin

Really great!! Clean, kind, comfortable, great room and amenity, Great food (personally little bit sugarly to me).Difficult to access (no pick up servise but hard to get taxi) and relatively far from tourist site. But I will gradly visit again for relaxation.
