I booked this hotel to try something new in a new area for a night last month.  As with new unknown hotels, there's always a risk, but was looking forward to try it out.  Plans changed and I thought I had cancelled it online, but for some mistake, it wasn't properly cancelled.  I later found out they charged me the full 90,000 JPY and told me to go take a hike.  I get that it was my mistake and they have their policy, but these things can happen with online bookings.  They never sent one single email to anticipate the check in or call me to ask if I'm going to show up or not.  Nothing but a silent charge to my credit card.  The least they could have done was to give me a credit for my to stay another time.  Their response since then has been horrible customer service.  They're not looking to build much of a reputation as a newcomer looking to cater to the foreign travelers!  With inflexibility like that, they won't succeed.  Beware!

Charged me 90,000 for a booking mistake without saying a word

Gorgeous rooms in the perfect location. A small place, with probably just 15 rooms or so, but the rooms are spectacular.

I'd avoid the breakfast if you have Western tastes. None of the four of us liked it, though I'm sure Japanese people would have eaten it happily. We like a lot of Japanese dishes, but not the stuff they eat for breakfast.

Very little English spoken, but Google Translate helps a lot.

Worth the money

The position is just one of a kind of this ryokan.
I stayed here for three night , upon check in they gave me a room not overlooking the temple. Staff was super attentive and kind and after one night they changed me to a bigger room overlooking the temple. Hotel is very clean and staff is extra gentle .
Be predated to sleep on the tatami , some like some don’t , it’s a matter of choice.

Super location and extremely friendly staff 

Perfect hotel in an awesome location while visiting Tokyo.  There are lots of things in walking distance; tourist spots, shops, restaurants, a supermarket, convenience stores, local atmosphere...etc.  Even, you have a Starbucks on the first floor of the same building!
The staff are great.  Also, the rooms are wonderfully decorated and everything is brand new.  Please try their Japanese breakfast.  That was so wonderful. 
Don't be confused by their old photos which sometimes are on some booking sites. 
雷門のすぐ横！新築の素晴らしいホテルです。
何もかもが新しく、またセンスのいい館内で快適に過ごせます。スタッフさんもとても親切でした。４人で泊まったので和洋室を利用しましたが、ヒノキのお風呂も大変気持ちよかったです。夕食の提供はありませんが周辺に多くの飲食店があるので食べ歩きも楽しいですし、スーパーやコンビニもすぐです。
予約サイトによっては以前の建物の写真が掲載されていることがあるようですので混同されませぬよう。

Great new hotel in Asakusa

The best hotel to stay at if you are looking for a Japanese style hotel, great hospitality and amazing Japanese food. Everything about this hotel is perfect. It is walking distance to the station and the Kaminarimon gate is right next door! The quality of the interior design as well of the structure of the rooms are incredible. A modern Japanese style hotel. There is nothing like it in Tokyo. Honestly, one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at.  Also, Starbucks is on the first floor. Who can argue with that?!

Highly Recommend!!

My friend and I stayed  in the Ryokan style hotel. It's pretty basic ryokan style but it is clean,quiet and comfy. The hotel is situated in the heart of Asakusa and  close to the Asakusa station. With the hotel's location and price, I found the room's size is sufficient (there were 2 adults and one child). The staff were nice, helpful. Great service. For sure, I will be back if I have a chance.
