Truly one of the enjoyable hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms are spacious. Beds and bedding very warm and comfortable. I had a good view of the town from the room. The shared facilities were surprisingly luxurious. The staff were friendly and helpful. 

The Japanese breakfast deserves a special mention. It was copious and magnificent. There is no menu choice but so many dishes of beautifully presented fresh food each morning was a great start to each day. The individual dishes change each day. 

I chose the hotel for its location close to the walkway to the ski fields. This plan worked well. There was easy access to skiing. There are also many restaurants and bars within a 10min walk. 

On the way back between the walkway and the hotel you can stop and have some onsen cooked food. A great after skiing treat. Talking of onsens there is a small public onsen about 200m from the hotel.

Would love to return one day.

A 5 Star, 2 star hotel

Staff were lovely and very clean.Could hear the person next door snoring.Didn't like how you coudn't have a shower in the morning and communal bathroom not available till after 3pm.

A great location very close to main shops, the bus depot, multiple Onsens and a really short walk to the ski lifts (which is critical when carrying and walking in ski gear). Breakfast was traditional and a great experience - the hotel drove us down to the bus terminal when leaving which was a great help when travelling as a group of 6 rather than lugging our bags through the snow. The room cost was high for the accommodation (it was 2.5 times the price that we paid for something even better, right in the middle of Tokyo that has it's own bathroom).

This ryokan style hotel has been recently refurbished. Its warm, comfortable and the staff are super friendly. You have ti walk up the mountain a bit to get to it, but it such a practical location to stay at, you are closer to the yu road. The ogawa open air hot spring is near by, restaurants close. Bars down the hill a bit and free parking. Id recommend the room 203, one of the larger rooms, with tv, toilet ,plenty of room up to 6 or 7 people to sleep on mattresses. And the view is spectacular. This hotel does have drying room for gear, and plenty of room to leave gear.restaurant is excellent for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is on 3 or 4 floors, with no lift. Staff are top

Totally recommend

Very nice quiet little hotel. The hosts are very lovely accommodating people. We got lost coming here at a random little train station and had trouble getting a taxi so we rang the hotel too ask them to book us one, instead the host came and picked us up! They also helped us with catching the correct buses when we left. 
We stayed in a western style room and it was very warm and the bed was super comfortable. I will certainly return here again.

Cute quiet hotel with great hosts

Pros: Excellent value, excellent hotel, excellent service. Traditional tatami, room is a basic with a TV, a heater, a kettle and thats about it to be honest! But go in expecting this, and everything is excellent. Staff (family owned) was excellent and catered to our every question and request (where to go for dinner, where to go for onsens etc.). Location is 10 minutes away from the slopes (5 minute walk, 5 minutes on the moving carpet). Restaurants and shops close by (by far enough from the noise). Mattresses and blankets were very comfortable, warm enough to sleep through the night. The showers were very hot, sinks and bathrooms close by (shared) and the entire property was very clean. I have no complaints. 

Cons: No place for you to shower in the morning - bath / shower only opened from 15:00 to 22:00. There are public onsens near by for you to do so, but just something to bear in mind.

Excellent hotel. Staff, rooms, location was all excellent.

It was our first time to Nozawaonsen after hearing so many good reviews about that ski town. After checking into Azegamikan, we were directed to the clean and traditional Japanese room. There were 4 big and comfortable ta ta mi (traditional Japanese bed) for my family of four. The heater worked well in the winter cold and we can even do our laundry for free. The onset was just a minute walk away if you decide not to wait for your turn to shower in the resort only communal bathroom.
The owner and his staffs speak little English but that did not stopped them in showing their hospitality. Takayoshi-san, the owner, went the extra miles in showing his care for us as it was our first time doing winter sport. He even sent us to the train station the morning we have to leave. Thank you Azegamikan, we will be back soon.
