We stayed one night and have the stay package that included both dinner and breakfast. The hotel is quite well located and can easily access boh both Iya East and West also close to Kazurabashi Bridge. Free parking is available onsite. 
We reserved the room that have a special Ceramic Tub for the onsen. The room is quite big, in traditional Japanese style and it's in clean. The private onsen is located on the balcony, so as the shower. It was a bit cold when we took the shower but the view of the onsen, overseeing the Iya Vally is totally worth it. The meals are very delicious and also showcase the valley's local produce and culinary tradition. Staff are friendly and also speak okay English.

Wonderful stay in a traditional Japanese style room

An amazing  traditional ryokan perched cliff side on the gorge of the Iya valley- an  uninterrupted view from the steaming hot open air bath on our balcony to the dense forest across the gorge  and the swallows swooping over the rushing Iya river 150 metres below .The room was spare but luxurious and incredibly quiet.
Wonderful dinner in private dining room. Local produce including soba, wild boar, sashimi trout and tempura wild herbs artfully presented and delicious.Breakfast equally epic.
The staff were beautiful, striking  the perfect balance between friendliness and efficiency .
Well worth the slightly hair raising( but really scenic) drive .

Blissful tranquility on the Iya River

I confess to not being that enamored with the Iya.  Part of the problem was that we got trapped in the room for an entire day because of torrential rains which also wiped out our hiking plans. It is a pretty isolated place so if you can't enjoy nature there's not much to do. The food and service was good.  I don't get the big attraction to having a hot tub in your own room - I much more enjoyed public onsens at other hotels.

Typhoon Backlash

What a special experience staying for 3 nights in this hotel was! It was difficult to make reservations but we managed. We planned a relaxing break between the Setouchi Art Triënale and our Tokyo visit, and relaxing it was! Where to start... Staff were very very friendly and sweet and made sure our stay was comfortable and memorable. Unfortunately hardly any English is spoken, but no problem. Than the food, served in our  private 'cabin'. Top Quality!! Our 3 dinners were all so tasty and beautiful, every meal was different and so were the ceramics it was served on! Our last dinner was very memorable for reasons I hope you will experience yourselves... The Japanese breakfast was an adventure like the dinner. We had only a piece of fruit for lunch by ourselves because it was all so filling. 
Room was beautiful and comfortable. No need for eye masks or earplugs. It included a.o. a strong massage chair and comfy futon beds . Every day fresh flowers and kimonos (even xxl size, wear them for dinner and breakfast!) 1 day we didn't leave the hotel and stayed in our room at the 'Onsen' style bathroom on our balcony with hot tub and great views into the forrest, river and valley. We even saw a group of monkeys passing. The beautiful Iya Vine bridge is a short walk and it was nice to walk further up stream and sit at the river side. Definitely worth a detour and the money! We hope to be back!!


Well Being in Iya Bijin

This was a wonderful experience from the views from the bath on the balcony to the food. We stayed one night. The drive through the valley was beautiful. There were 3 of us and we shared a room. We each had a shower on the balcony and then a bath. Lazing in warm water looking down the valley was very relaxing. Then onto dinner. The pictures already posted tell you the story of dinner. Some cold dishes followed by hot. All beautifully presented. Slept well that night with only the noise of the running stream. Breakfast was also beautifully presented with a variety of courses. Well worth the visit. 

A great place

We stayed in this hotel when travelling to Iya onsen area. This hotel is quite close to the famous Iya-no-Kazura Bashi (祖谷のかずら橋) - just a few mins drive.
They only have like around 8 rooms in the hotel, and each with a private onsen overlooking the canyon and mountains. You can enjoy the magnificent views while enjoying the onsen. The onsen is not big, but good enough for 2 person. Water temperature can be adjusted. They even have a massage chair in the room which is quite nice especially you can also have massage after onsen. The room is in traditional japanese style (tatami) but its decorated in a modern way. Spotlessly clean and new. 
The package also included dinner and breakfast. The food is all delicate and delicious. Service is of course excellent like in most parts of japan. I enjoyed my stay very much - quiet, peaceful, relaxing, and private. You can escape from the tour crowds which will not be staying in this small hotel.
