Location is about half way up the Ikaho Stairs, only a 3-minute walk. The Onsen was quite large, with an outdoor bath overlooking the area. The waters are clear but when they touch oxygen they turn a golden color, rich in iron with those health properties. There is also another outdoor bath, and one large indoor-bath with hot springs water flowing down the rocks. Very calming. Men and women alternate sides at midnight so don't miss one of the baths.

We had a really nice room on the 8th Floor with Western-style beds, very large entry way, a Tatami room with a splendid view of the Akakgi Renzan mountains. 
The Biggest surprize: the room had a complete chashitsu- Japanese room for serving tea, complete with its own tokonoma, water server in the tatami, and an entrance that is only a meter high (sit on your knees and slide through). If you request it, they could arrange a little ceremony for you!
Pick up some of their Daruma senbei cookies for a great present.

To be honest, the outside is pretty shabby, when we drove up I said, "What have I gotten us into?" Inside is very clean and new for a hotel built in 1868!

Iron-Rich Golden Onsen, Great View, and Tasty Food

Stunning hotel, amazing room and great location near Lake/Mount Haruna.  Amazing service and great looking spa. Highly recommended!!

Awesome service and friendly staffs! The quality of Japanese traditional foods were great! You must try Private Open Air Bath! It was a little bit hard to find it at the first time but the staff came to take us to the place.

Perfect place for experiencing Japanese Ryokan

My trip to Japan was mainly focusing on hot spring.
This hotel is hundreds year old with lots of history.
Therefore, you will experience the old and traditional cultures here.
The most favorite thing I like in this hotel are hot spring, foods and the hospitality.
Hot spring in this hotel will make you feel relieve.
Foods here will lead you feel how the local cuisines taste.
Last, the hospitality from the owner will let you feel at home.
I recommend ppl who visit Shibukawa si should visit here at least once!

It's a nice hotel with nice hot spring!

This hotel has a long history as it's shown in appearance of the building but maybe that's why the hospitality of the staffs are so great that you won't be aware how shabby the building is. 

The location is so nice because the place is so quiet. But it's very near to the sightseeing spot of stone stairs. 

The pure hot spring bath (Japanese style) is available whenever you want during your stay. 

I would like to visit again. 

Quiet and nice hot spring 

Stayed here for 3 days while attending a conference. The rooms as is your typical Japanese room. No bed. Traditional tea making set. There is a small coffee table and two chairs in front the window. Heater available. I stayed in on the 6th floor which was close enough to the lobby (5th Floor) to receive adequate Wifi signal for me to surf the internet.

When we arrived, someone briefed us on the hotel while we enjoyed a bowl of delicious mushroom tea (I think). Upon checking into the room, a staff would come over to help you with your Yukata. 

My stay included breakfast, lunch and dinner. Except for lunch, the other meals was a feast indeed. 

The hotel had both an indoor and outdoor hot bath. 

The town is not big but you should hike up the hill at the back as the view was absolutely stunning from the lookout.

Unique experience!

I stayed in this Moriaki  Ryokan Ikaho (伊香保 森秋温泉旅館 ) as part of a conference activity on Oct 24, 2014.   It is a typical Onsen Ryokan (Japanese Hot Spring Hotel) with grass mat (榻榻米草蓆).  The waitress will make bedding on the grass mat for you while you are having dinner, a Japanese Cuisine Set.    The dinner that I had on 2014/10/24 was very classical with luxuary ingredient.   The breakfast was also Japanese style.   The breakfast restaurant has a great view of valley and moutain.   The autumn leave in the Ihaho forest is now turning red.  
Moriaki ryokan has a larger indoor onsen pool and a smaller outdoor onsen pool.  The quality of onsen is excelent, rich in iron and brown in color.
There was no free internet in most of the quest rooms, except those close to the lobby.

A nice ryokan to stay, with private open-air bath in some rooms, large enough for couple. I stayed there two times, generally the service was very good. In one occasion I had a chance to try its dining menu and breakfast, those were delicious. Both private and common open-air bath has beautiful view of the hilly areas of Ikaho. Its location was great, not far from bus stop and also only several minutes walk from Kajika bridge which is illuminated during October-November.
