Poka poka village

We booked a sea-view room for a 2-night stay in November, 2018. Our communication with the staff beforehand was courteous and easy - even though their English isn't perfect, it was enough to understand each other! We chose Pokapokamura for its proximity to the beach, Meoto Iwa and its location as a kind of 'halfway' between Ise and Mikimoto Pearl Island. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the station and in the off season there isn't much around, but that made it better for us - a perfect escape from our life in Tokyo! The hotel/guesthouse offers a simple breakfast of cereal, toast and hot drinks. It's enough to start the day with! Additionally, there is a public bath and shower along with another bath that you can reserve in advance. The eating area is open in the evenings if you want to bring food back to the hotel - we did this our second night. The first evening, we went into Ise to find a pizza restaurant. The room was a nice size and we had roof/balcony access: hammocks were just outside our room on the deck! The 'warm blankets' that were available were SO SOFT - we want to buy them for our home! Uemura-san was the most helpful hotel staff we've met in our time here in Japan. He tried to fix some issues we had (and succeeded) and offered a lot of helpful information! One tip - the hotel doesn't supply shampoo for free, so bring your own. This wasn't a problem for us as we are prepared travelers, but it might be unexpected for some. We will definitely book again if we ever return to Ise!
