Highly recommend this place run by a beautiful family! Rooms are cute, clean and cosy with good heating and serviced regularly. Jun, Yoko and Hina went above and beyond with their amazing hospitality and even helped us organise some future travel and transfers. Also Jun is an amazing chef and runs a great Japanese/Italian restaurant in the building. Can’t wait to stay again next time I’m in Hakuba.

The rooms were clean and perfect for what we needed (which says a lot for a group of 8 females), and the heated floors were perfect! They also had the easiest access to all our equipment. 
The staff were on hand at all times to help us call taxis and get on the right busses so we could continuously get the most out of our time there 
Their restaurant downstairs was also incredible as well as being so close to many Japanese restaurants and western meals to suits everyone’s taste buds 
I can not recommend Pension Syo enough for any group, couples or solo travellers. I will definitely be back !

The owners provided excellent hospitality. It was really nice of them to pick and drop us off at the train station. There is a bus stop in front of the house which was very convenient to visit the snow resorts. The house is clean, homey, and great for the price. I highly recommend staying here! I hope to visit again in the future.

We visited Hakuba for the first time and were delighted with our accomodation. Jun was a terrific host (pick-up, drop-off to Hakuba and helped with phone calls. It's a family-run lodge and you quickly share in the ambiance of the area and place. We took the family room of five beds (two teenagers loved their area upstairs), and ensuite bathroom but often used the shared facilities - which are very clean - as anyone with kids knows, they often want to go at the same time. Floor heating in rooms. Drying room for ski gear. Free tea & coffee facilities near reception. Warm & cozy lounge area where patrons watch TV, play card games or just talk.

Food was fabulous. Big breakfast in the morning (eggs, meat, cereal, fruit, yogurt, vegetables, homemade bread and juice) with pizza/pasta varieties and Shabu, Shabu at night. The free shuttle stop to/from ski field is right outside, main Echoland street and Hakuba Base Camp bus terminal two blocks away, so location was perfect. Highly recommended!

Terrific place, highly recommended!

A quaint little lodge located not far from the main street of Echoland and the Hakuba Base Camp bus terminal. Our ensuite room was spacious and cosy, and it came with floor heating. It could get a little noisy in the early morning if you're a light sleeper and late-riser, but it wasn't a huge deal for us. The property was clean and we really appreciated the water dispenser and free coffe & tea amenities located next to the reception for guests to help themselves to at anytime. There were also a coin-operated washer and dryer Best of all, the owner Jun was very responsive, helpful and hospitable! We had a good time here and we highly recommend this property to everyone!

Absolutely delicious!!! We visit here every time we holiday in Hakuba. Always have the ‘Shabu-Shabu’ . 5 times with first visit Jan 2013. 
The staff explain by demonstrating, how to cook it at your own table. Vegetables and thinly sliced pieces of meat ( plus udon noodles) cooked in a broth...at your own pace. 
The staff are very welcoming. We brought our 2 yr old grandson last year and there were toys to help occupy him ( with our adult supervision) in another room , when he had had enough sitting at the table with the 4 adults. The Japanese adore children. 

Japanese Dinner - ‘Shabu-Shabu ‘

I stayed at Pension Syo with my son while on a ski trip over Christmas 2019 and I highly recommend it. The owner was very welcoming and helpful, and the so was all the staff, offering discreet and efficient service. 
The house is charming and cosy and has a very pleasant sitting room for guests to enjoy.
The Pension serves breakfast with delicious homemade bread, and also has a restaurant serving Italian food (another very pleasant room). We didn’t try that but they also serve Shabu Shabu, which we did try and enjoyed very much. Food is very reasonably priced, too!
