The good point about this place is the price.  But I don't have a shower in my room and the carpet looked like it haven't been cleaned for a while.  They do sell drinks and cup noddles in their lobby.  It's an OK place if you don't expect much.  Internet is lobby only.

It's OK

Place and facilities look tired, service is acceptable but you know they can do a better job if they try to smile. Dinner, that is included in the plan, can only be provided to us either at 5, 5.30 or 7.30 as they have to pace the groups to be served in a buffet setting. Quite a variety offered that includes beef steak (unusual as meat is expensive), crabs. WiFi only in lobby.


Meah! Will try someplace else next time

Not too much choice in Asahidake onsen. Ho(s)tel was ok, but I'd give it a 2-3 star. Room was twin and was ok. WiFi in lobby. 1.5 km from the cable car station. Onsen was suffering from mould - not sure if that was a feature, but I've never seen before in Japan! Had too get up to hike so no breakfast.


Grand - kinda - views are Grand

Great location and that's about it.

It has indoor and outdoor onsens but they are not well maintained. We were there during off peak season so managed to have a 'private' onsen. The onsen is closed daily for cleaning but I think they have to clean harder.

The room was nothing to shout about. Kinda brought you back to the 70s though ... Yes, the rooms need some sprucing up. The bathroom felt like one of those on cruise ships. Impossibly tiny even for a petite Asian like me. 

The front office staff do not speak English at all. Was even a challenge with Google translate as most answers were 'no'. 

Would recommend that you go to Hotel Deer Valley just next to it. The staff were friendly and spoke some English. We did not book the room with meals and Grand Hotel refused to let us have dinner. It was snowing and the nearest restaurant was at least 10 km away. We went to Hotel Deer Valley and after some persuasion, we had dinner there. It was good!

Try the other hotels

I still dont know if i was really in this hotel or it was just a bad dream.Immediately as you approach the hotel you notice weed and grass overgrowing the place,theres ruins of some building just next to it.this will give you a good hint how its gonna look like inside.when you enter the lobby you will get welcomed by a stench of cigarretes and oldness.You feel like you just travelled back to 80s because everything is still there since it was build worn furniture,elevator halls etc.
We booked non smoking room but got smoking one,i didnt sleep all nite because of the smell.i dont ihink there is any cleaning going on at all because there is dust everywhere,stains on the walls or lamp shade.smell of the bathroom made me gag.theres mold at the side of the toilet and inside of the fringe.
Breakfast was not eadible.
Wifi only in lobby.
We were charged€200 for one night!!
I cant believe that in country like Japan can something like this exist.
Only ok thing was staff,feel sorry for them that they have to work there.
