I wanted to correct a comment made by another traveler . The traveler stated that there was only one spa- there are TWO spas- one for men and one for women..however only one spa has a rotenburo -- or an outdoor bath. Everyday the men's and women's baths are switched so that men and women each have a chance to use the outdoor bath. Switching baths is normal in most ryokan Onsen.

We had a great experience at this ryokan.  Everyone was pleasant.  Everything was clean and orderly, and very peaceful.  Unfortunately, the staff does not speak much English, but we able to communicate using gestures and a translation program on my iphone.

We had a large room that could accommodate five futons although we only needed four.

The only drawback is that they have only one spa that has separate hours for hosting men and women.  The hours for women are earlier in the day.  I believe the time for men starts at 21:00 or 21:30.  

We had a very large, Japanese breakfast in the morning.  All in all, quite wonderful.
