Attention! Be careful!!!! They rip you of and cheat!! Couple of hours check in time only, it is intentionally hidden under policy! He didn’t let us in at 8 pm and didn’t reply my messages the whole day. Then rudely told me to complain at booking.com and he takes my money! He charged my card for two rooms!!!! For nothing!!

I enjoyed my 2 nights at the Antico Borgo Teresiano. The owner has three rooms in his apartment which he rents out so effectively you share his space. He’s a nice guy and we had a few decent conversations during my stay.

I arrived early (9.30am) from Ljubljana and, although my room wasn’t ready, he let me leave my bags so I could go and explore Trieste.

The room was very traditionally furnished which suited the apartment.

You share the bathroom with others but this was never a problem and it was always spotlessly clean so it felt like your own. 

WiFi was good. 

10-15 minute walk to train/bus station.

A basic breakfast was included in the price, which wasn’t expected but very gladly received.

The room was hot, there’s no aircon, and the street is too noisy to have a window open, but to be honest there’s a fan which does the job well enough.



Nice stay

This B&B is a normal large Italian flat that has been converted into a B&B with three large rooms. When I say 'large' rooms I mean that they have nothing in common to the often tiny, cramped rooms of British B&B! Here there are very high ceilings and they are wonderfully spacious. For these three rooms, there are two bathrooms available, one, again, very large and a smaller one. There is street noise when one chooses to sleep with the windows open, which could be a problem in summer. Yes, there is air condition but this is also rather noisy, leaving one with the choice between a rock and a hard place. In terms of location, this B&B is great, in the centre, a couple of minutes' walk to the Canale Grande and a 10 minutes' walk to Trieste railway station. Also, the cleanliness of the rooms and toilets is superb! What lets this place really down is the breakfast: I cannot recall having ever eaten such a meagre breakfast in any B&B in the world. Essentially, one gets French toast ('fette biscottate') with jam or butter, and a coffee. There is also a choice of replacing the fette biscottate with toast, but one has to ask for it, it does not get served. There is no bread, cheese, egg, ham, Nutella, brioche, muesli, etc., nothing! My mum who is diabetic, renounced her breakfast on her second morning as there was nothing for her to eat. The owner even joked that one does not eat savoury food in the morning but why does he not speak just for himself? Firstly, there were non-Italian guests when we arrived and they often DO eat savoury breakfasts, and secondly, even by Italian standards, there was no choice of sweets, e.g. one fresh brioche (croissant) per guest would have been nice and not costly for the owner to serve. Hence, only the 'Average' rating.

Beautiful Rooms, Good Location, Breakfast is a Joke

Stayed one night in this quaint BnB. Was very well looked after by the gracious and attentive host. Very very clean place with amazing decor. Great location near the old town and short walk to the main Piazza. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed 2 nights here and had a warm welcome from alessandro our very friendly host. Everything was ok, clean, the room was comfortable. But I didn't like the fact that I felt confined to my room. With 2 little children it is handier to have more space, e.g. Being able to let them draw on the living room table or common area. We had access to our bedroom that's it. And the room was quite dark, opening the windows meant let the traffic noise get in. So we didn't feel like staying there and hand around a bit. Breakfast was minimal. Certainly much more simple than any other B&Bs we've been in Italy. All in all we found that we paid a bit too much for what we got.

Ok, not great

We stayed two nights in this beautiful bed and breakfast in the heart of Trieste. We were well looked after in the home of Alessandro who provided lots of useful information on places to go and joined us at breakfast to share stories about our respective interests. lives and homes. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well stocked with towels and toiletries.It is very centrally located, just around the corner from the Grand Canal and tram, and 15 minutes walk from the train and coach station. This is a real gem of a place and we would love to return some day.
