Ostello Aig Mergellina

I read a lot of reviews about this hostel and you would think that the place was falling apart which isn't true at all. Firstly, to get there: Exit the train station and turn right. There will be a road that goes through a tunnel. Take this road and once you are out of the tunnel go right up the hill, behind the train station. Then follow this road and you'll be at the hostel. This hostel previously was setup as a busy hostel or something different as its boarding capacity is quite big and spacious. I stayed here for one week. Initially there was a mistake with my room and booking as I came a day later than planned but I was put into a four bedroom bunk with air conditioning. The hostel doesn't have a kitchen but has a laundry (5 Euros for wash and dry). The power points do work however I found that some aren't in the best order. However you'll be able to have a few to use at minimum. The mattresses were surprisingly comfortable which was great given the cost. Bathroom had necessities (hot and cold water, mirror). Air conditioning was new and worked perfectly. Only issue with the toilet is its design. There is the western style and European style cistern in a small space so your sitting at an angle. Hostel has free WiFi that worked fine for web page browsing and staff were friendly and respectful. The foyer is average condition and same with outside the hostel. However you will not spend a lot of time in the outside of the hostel. Location is very central to the station (about 5 mins walk) and Napoli train station is around 15 minutes. For this reason it is an ideal hostel. So would I stay here again? Yes, given its cost and location. The owners helped me find the hostel on the first day and were very friendly and helpful and there food is fantastic for quick snacks and bites. Pizza slices for 1 Euro as well as other pastries. It is on the other side of the crossing directly opposite the train station!!!!! (SEE PHOTOS)
