we have rooms for everybody in a quiet and nice place.we have hostel and bed and breakfst and villas in Lucca, but no agency, low prices nice quality. 


Hostel Ostello in Lucca

The building was an old nunnery and very beautiful. There were still parts un touched but they didn't spoil what had been done. The rooms although very basic were clean and comfortable. No air con but big windows with insect mesh and a fan. So it made it comfortable to sleep. The gardens were lovely and well kept with lots of seating areas. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice. Parking was free. It is in a perfect location.

This place is a hostel and I think the rooms get put on sites such as booking .com when they have rooms to fill. We booked a family room for 5 and then 2 double rooms through booking .com. When we paid they had put linen hire on top of the room cost advertised on booking .com. I think this should be made aware to people before they book. But apart from that we absolutely loved the place.

Fantastic location

I visited Lucca with a group of friends to walk in the mountains.  Several of our party had been there before and recommended the hostel. Since our booking and payment, there had been a change of management, so we had to pay again, but we have since received a refund and are happy. I stayed in a dormitory room with 6 other women. The beds were comfortable, we each had a locker and we co-operated, to ensure we all had showers in our shared bathroom. Breakfasts were substantial, dinner was tasty but slow on the first night, improving subsequently. The building is very historic, the gardens reaching to the city walls. If you stay on a Saturday you may be bothered by noise from wedding parties in an adjoining part of the building, but for us it added to the unique atmosphere.

Fabulous location at a great price

Hostel: 
Room freezing cold,  broken toilet flush, cheap towels and this was in their "luxury" room.

Restaurant:
Decent food, but one of the worst service I've seen in a long time. The waitress of the restaurant in particular, is extremely rude and inefficient. 

STAY AWAY!

Horrible service

We came last year for dinner and live jazz in the garden and it was a wonderful experience - lovely food and live musicians. Tonight the polar opposite! Dreadful food served dreadfully slow. What arrived on our plates was NOT as described and when it looked like we would complain when paying the bill, what little English the staff had quickly disappeared. No concesion was offered nor made when it came "Il Conto". As for the music? Well, by nearly 10 o'clock (it was supposed to have started at 8) still no-one came to listen to an extremely amatuerish "DJ". As I've said, all so, so dreadfully poor. Avoid.

So Dreadfully Poor!

Be aware that it is not allowed to drive within the walls of Lucca without permission. We gave our registration number to the hotel, and they promised us that they would handle the permission with the local police and that it would be free for us to drive within the walls and park at the hotel. Ten months later we recieved four fines (more than €100 each) for violating the "highway code". Although we had proof (by mail conversation) the hotel did not help us to sort this out with the local police, wich for us ended up with a fine of more than €400. A very expensive experience.
