Very newly updated, this hotel was a real pleasure for us during a Nordic ski trip in January 2023. One can ski from almost right outside the hotel or walk a short distance to the Nordic Arena. For Nordic ski, the location is thus quite excellent - for downhill, not so much. For hiking or cycling, the location would serve well with short drives to some good hikes and some potential hikes from the hotel, including a walk on the Nordic trail from the Nordic Arena towards Tre Cime (though not TO Tre Cime as that would be quite the excursion!). We had a truly lovely and spacious room with a sitting area and sleeping area separated by a partial wall, an enormous bathroom and a quite sizable balcony. As the Dobbiaco prices are not Cortina prices, splurge a little and get a nice room! The one thing that did have us worried was that the quality of the construction seemed like it might not last as long as one might hope - that is, not the construction itself but the materials being thin, not high-end, etc. I do hope that the owners are able to maintain the condition to close to the near brand-new state that we found it in. The breakfast buffet was fine (not five star hotel quality, but this is not a five star hotel!). The dinners were also good and an exceptional value in a half-board reservation, but you might wish to leave a night or two to try a local restaurant (see our Refugio Genziana review).
