Rosemount House B&B

Day 2 of our visit to Ireland we stayed at the Rosemount B&B. Gated, off street parking was perfect.  Location was a convenient walk to the waterfront and easy to find.

The B&B is beautiful. The entrance staircase is breathtaking. We were in room #1 and it was clean and pleasant, the bathroom had great water pressure. The bed was comfy and we had a great nights sleep. I would stay there again.

This is a lovely period residence within a short walk to the centre of town. It has a small gated car park so parking is secure. The decor is in keeping with the period style with vintage/antique furnishings. Our room was lovely, very large including a large ensuite with free standing bath. One of the radiators did not work so the room was quite chilly even with the heat on - we had to leave the door open from the toasty ensuite. The bed was not that comfortable, and the mattress bigger than the base. However we slept okay in this quiet location apart from some intermittent barking from the dog in the room next door. Breakfast was nice, not sure if the preserves were homemade as advertised but they were fine. Host was pleasant and engaged in conversation. We would certainly stay again.

We stayed here for one night as the ferry didn't arrive until 7.45.  The room is large and furnished mostly with antique furniture.  The bathroom had a free standing bath and a separate shower.  A very friendly welcome and a great breakfast set us up for our onward journey.

Good location

Rosemont House is a lovely and quaint property close for Wexford town centre, which is what we wanted as we were only staying for one night.
On arrival we were greeted and taken straight to our room. We were told that we had been upgraded to a larger room (don't know why as we had not asked for this and as we saw no one else whilst we were there, not sure why we couldn't stay in any of the usual rooms) but on entering the room which had a double and a single bed, we were promptly told that if we used the extra single bed for any reason we would be charged extra.
The house and bedroom were cold, which considering it was only just above zero degrees outside, we would have expected a warmer room inside the house. We did mention this to the host and asked if we could have a small fan heater or something in the room, we were told no and that the heating would be going on shortly. It did - at 5pm for two hours, by the time we went to bed later in the evening (c.9pm so not very late), the room was fairly cool again and remained so throughout the night.
My husband slept relatively okay but I found the bed to be too hard and a bit lumpy for my taste.
Heating was off and cold room again in the morning.
Breakfast room was also cold, my husband had the cooked breakfast in which the bacon and sausages were overcooked and yet the mushrooms undercooked and it was all only lukewarm. I asked for toast and got  barely warm bread. Jam and marmalade had obviously been decanted into little pots and there was only just enough in both pots for two pieces of toast. It just felt like everything was being done with absolute minimal cost. My husband had coffee with his breakfast and when he asked for a second one, it was reluctantly provided.
We found the host to be quite distant, she certainly provided the basics you would expect in the b&b hospitality circuit and if that is all you want, no problem. However we found her to be not particularly personable and when we tried to engage with her in conversation on arrival and also as we were leaving, she wasn't interested, it was very much a case of pay and go. After we paid, she took the card machine and walked away, didn't walk with us to the door, or any goodbyes, thank you for staying or anything.
The house and location are great, can't fault them, would just be better with a bit more heating!

Good location but has its downsides

We recently stayed here for one night. The location is great as it is only a five minute walk to town. Carol and Timmy were very welcoming and the house itself is lovely with very high ceilings. Breakfast was also very nice and cooked to order. However, room was cold at night and the towels smelled a little musty.. Overall perfectly adequate....
