Lovely place very friendly  would recommend it and will return

We stayed here while visiting family.  The b&b is absolutely fantastic.   Large, clean, well-appointed rooms - with everything needed within, a brilliant host in Colleen, and stunning views.

Cannot praise it highly enough

A stunning view

We stayed for 5 nights in August this summer. Our host Colleen was great and very friendly. The room was lovely and clean with a nice bathroom. The breakfast offered was all we needed ( toast , coffee , tea and cereals). The B&B is in a great location and perfect for taking a morning or evening walk on the beach. Highly recommended.

Lovely place

Beautiful B and B with excellent location to the beach, walk takes 2 minutes. Room very clean and nicely decorated with plenty of towels in bathroom. Lovely breakfast the next morning. Quite area. Will definitely stay here again on next visit to duncannon.

Will be back!

Stayed twice, fantastic place with a very nice restaurant. The food was lovely and the room had a fabulous view. We will go again :)
Very close to the Skellig Island departure. It was our plan to go on the island (we went a couple of time already) sadly the weather  was not good enough for the boat to set sail. No problem since the area has a lot of other lovely place to visit.

Mooring bridge bar

I loved this B&B and wish I could have stayed longer.  Super comfortable bed, room with a view and good en suite with plenty of hot water.  Quiet house. Good continental breakfast.  I found Colleen to be really friendly and helpful.  I loved the little town and ate locally in the evening.

Great place

Very nice b and b.  Just a pity their wasn't a cooked breakfast only a continental one.

The good
We liked how nice the owner was and the fact we were received to check in out of hours. Also returned a t-shirt we forgot to our car after we checked out. Good thing we had a little walk before we left.

There was street parking outside the property.
If your goal is to get to the Hook lighthouse in the morning, it's a good place to sleep the night.
Breakfast included with local Irish yoghurt, toast, cereals etc.

The not so good
The lack of wifi which is one of the reasons we chose this place, but the owner is actively getting this fixed so hopefully won’t be a problem soon.
Lack of bag in the room bin (minor thing but in esthetic, could just be a mishap but felt unprofessional).
The sea view in the room was partially obscured by the nearby houses and it was more of a side sea view (in other words you can't see much).
I know that this is located in a less known area (Duncannon), however at the same price we had outstanding rooms in Kilkenny town center.

Advice to owner: 
check the rooms (bin bags) and the pillows (because of the location and increased humidity, some may need changing as they are getting that moldy feeling).

Conclusion: a nice chatty owner you would enjoy meeting with a decent room. Rating would be 4 stars if internet worked. As a video editor that was a big no no for me.

Homey place, located near the fort

The moorings is a pleasant guest house with absolutely nothing wrong with it. The decor is mostly stripped pine (which we like) and our room was clean and a decent size. Getting into the slightly idiosyncratic en suite was an interesting exercise for my 6'2" frame, though once in everything was clean and worked. We booked quite late in the day and the room hadn't fully warmed by the time we arrived, though the owner had put an electric blanket in the (comfortable) bed to ensure that it was aired. She also gave useful advice on local eating. Where The Moorings falls down is principally value for money. The price is slightly above average while there are no facilities other than bedrooms and breakfast is only d-i-y continental.

Very Acceptable but Nothing Special

Stayed here on 2/11 with a friend as we were attending an after dark event in Loftus Hall, travelled up from Cork, and was very much looking forward to the night away. 

Keys left in the door, absent hostess, not a great start, but it was fine. 
Room was lovely, quaint & clean, no complaints there at all.

Greeted by the hostess a while later who arrived to our room, we informed her we would be late arriving back from Loftus Hall, circa 3am, just to keep her in the loop. 

Arrived back as normal, asleep shortly after. When we woke the next morning (8am, repeated banging, stamping, doors closing, reopening), we lounged until 10, and departed at 11. We were met like bold children by the hostess at the bottom of the staircase who’s first words to us were ‘I hope you’re going to give me a fantastic review because everyone else that stayed here last night complained to me about you 2’. I queried what she meant & she claimed we were ‘so loud’ & that everyone expected her to ask us to quieten down during the night, but she didn’t. The room next to ours had a very audible snorer, so I can’t really fathom who we ‘kept awake.’ She then queried if we ‘went drinking’ upon arriving back, and we then had to justify having 2 drinks after our evening out. 

Having spent over 10 years managing departments in Hotels, I have absolutely never come across such condescending, deplorable customer service. I walked away feeling like a bold child scolded by a teacher. 

Avoid at all costs.
