Don't come here expecting a hotel. I see some negative reviews and that's their view of the story, probably expecting more. For the budget price I got a quiet room that is very close to Assi Ghat. The best part for me was the lady who runs it all, because she is very nice and cooks amazing food. 

She is genuinely interested in a comfortable stay and I had a great time with her family. 

The rooftop is really pretty, and generally this place was an oasis of peace amidst a crazy Varanasi. Of course it could always be more comfortable, or cleaner, but for me this was the perfect balance between staying comfortably and experiencing an authentic Varanasi.

Amazing if you're not looking for a 5-star tourist hotel

- room not clean and never cleaned although I stayed 4 nights. 

- shower is extremely dirty.

- almost no flow of water (when there is water ...).

- no hot water at all. They lie and say there is, but it's under "reparation " or "no diesel today".

- minor (10 years old) buzz boy that always asks for money.  He is probably paid only with food and a roof.

- food only seems cheap, but when you receive the portions (very small ones) then it's actually very expensive. 

- there is no real wifi, just a poor rooter that almost never works.

- landlady is not nice. Always trying to sell her clothing or food. But when you ask her for breakfast or diner, be patient for at least  1 hour. And of course you have to go to her "kitchen " to take what you ordered. And you will have always the impression she does you a favor although you pay full price. Very unpleasant feeling. 

- there is a marriage house just behind the guest house. The volume is so loud that it's impossible to sleep before 2 in the night. 

- above all,  it's lies, dirt and strong  unpleasant feeling that you will receive if you do the mistake to go to this horrible place. 



Dirty noisy place, greedy land-lady 

It is a budget clean and nice room. It is just few steps from Assigath and may be 20 minutes walk to University.
Very friendly people run this guest house . 
Some shops and restaurants with good food around this place .
Thirty was very kind and help me to wash some clothes !

Clean room , very nice people

I spent just a couple of nights at maruti's but I felt like at home, everyone particularly tripti was very kind and keen to help. I also had a delicious dinner there. The accommodation was good also because very quiet, So I never had problem sleeping. The location is OK,away from the noisy old city but few minutes by cyclerickshaw from it. Thank you for letting me feel home! Luca 

Comfortable stay

We found Maruti Guest House while we were wondering around Varanasi to find a nice budget place and that's exactly what we found here. Clean rooms, helpful family and peaceful place.

The guest house is nearby Assi Ghat in a reasonably quiet (this is India) location where we were welcome by the owner. We saw a lot of rooms in other Varanasi hotels and this place just beats everyone with its' price. Our stay here felt more like we are the family's guest not a hotel's customer. 

One can get a delicious, home-made food here, help with any questions about Varanasi and a feeling that you are well looked after.
