very friendly hotel in the heart of baga beach staff are excellent and the service 1st class well worth a visit. lots of shops and bars close by and not to far from the beach lots a good restaurant near by.

happy holiday

First time in Goa. Security very high at airport, they take finger prints, pictures, want to know address of where ur staying ( so make sure u have it to hand ). They couldn t read numbers on visa print out . It’s a good job I still had application on phone or god knows what would of happened.. so be aware.
At airport there are porters. Don t let them 5ake your luggage unless your going to tip.
This was a first choice package holiday. We had an old coach which took us to hotel. 1 hour 30 mins roughly. They drop you off at end of dirt track and some workers from hotel meet you and take luggage to room. ( make sure you have change for tipping ) they accept English money !
On arriving in my room I was gob smacked. The rooms was nothing like picture in hotel. Very dated, hardly any cupboard space. Old fridge and sink. Bathroom was a toilet that hardly flushed and a shower. I was disappointed.i needed a drink.!! Haha
There is no safe in the room. There is a locker room by reception with the number of your room on. Take your own padlock. They sell them there, but a few people said all of them use same code ?? Can t comment but just be careful. 
So I went and got a drink and sat over by some steps. There was no sun beds for. There are only 14 sun beds round the pool.. so if you snooze you will loose. .
Anyway I got chatting to a lovely lady who could see the disappointment in my face. She said we all feel like this..( new guests) A lot of the guest have been coming for 20 years., year in year out. Give it 24 hours she said. So i relaxed a bit.
The staff are who make this hotel. They can t do enough for you. There’s a snack menu you can order off all day ( they don t stick to the times) , then on an evening there’s a buffet but also a main menu to order off. If you fancy something and it’s not on , they will go out there way to try to do. 
Stefan was the best waiter, he looked after my daughter, making sure she didn t go hungry when she was poorly. Also got to mention diga the pool man. He was so friendly. All staff are great though.
Any probs with room is sorted straight away.
Fans are very noisy in the room, but it drowns out karaoke on an evening. There wasn t much entertainment, and it’s not really suitable for kids. There was only a couple of kids there.
All in all we had a great time. Weather was high 30 s. That’s what we went for !

2 star accommodation with 5 star service.. February 2018

Arrived 4 December till 26 December
Another great holiday must say the lads that work in the hotel made our holiday again.
Every one made a great effort to look after us  and to celebrate Christmas the place looked fantastic in the evenings and the Christmas meal was a credit to the chef and is army of helpers.
We had a few problems with the room but once again dealt with no problem no need to ask twice ! 
Must say such  a shame the Thai restaurant is so under used the food is great .
Would we return ? Most defiantly 
A big thanks to every one that works in the hotel from the manager to the cleaners 
And big thanks to the head chef always makes sure we are well fed and happy 👍   

Second visit 

It was my first time visiting Goa. Hotel Santiago is worth its three stars. The food was good, but a bit spicy. The room was cleaned everyday. I did not like the fact that at the restaurant the English tourists were paid a lot more attention than us. My ordered coffee was constantly forgotten and I had to remind them that. Also, electricity was constantly lost, but it was restored immediately. Near the hotel there was a jewel store, where worked a local man nicknamed Jack, who did excellent work with my rings, as well as his other work, a rare craft. We became great friends and surely Jack is one of the best memories of my Goa trip. It was also a cultural shock, but you can not describe it, you have to experience it yourself.


Just returned after a ten day stay . This my first visit to Goa and must say I really enjoyed my stay.
When first arrived at the hotel at 0300 we thought what have we done . Rooms are basic and need an update. However all your needs are met . Good air conditioning, comfy beds and a separate living air with a fridge.
The hotel itself is three star but the service and food are five star . Staff couldn’t do enough for you and the food was either table service or buffet all part of your all inclusive package . There is also a Thai restaurant in the evening that was also very good 

All in all I had a great holiday and met some great people .

The negative points are sun-beds badly need replaced with more off them and it would be nice to have better chairs and tables in the balcony.

Positive points are the fantastic staff . Would recommend this place . People we met here have been coming for years.



Holiday in the sun 

Third time to Santiago but its badly in need of a makeover, Only the staff keep the place ticking over, I think the management know this and are reluctant to spend real money on it, They must think why should we the staff draw people back, Priority for my wife and myself would be the balcony chairs replaced by nice easy ones as we spend quite a while on the balcony, Food is good and varied Shame not many use the thai restaurant which is not advertised enough

On arriving and having to walk at 4.30 am down a dark pot hole strewn track to a small hotel is a shock. But wait..... Yes the rooms are plain and lack adequate storage  for your posessions but the staff are wonderful. The location 5 mins from Baga is supreme, and the food although slow to be served is great. This hotel is a grower. The quaint portuguese styling has a rustic feel. Be warned however there are no elevators here. Nightly entertainment is provided poolside and is of a good standard. I enjoyed my stay but would offer a suggestion to management, 1. Put the tv in the central area not the double bedroom. 2. Have more storage space in bathroom and bedrooms for toiletries etc. 3. Staff the games room and open the bar up there.
