Draflastadir Guesthouse

Choose to stay here to be away from the crowds and the peaceful scenery. The room was very simple but clean and all we needed for our 2 night stay. We were in a family room but on the ground floor so the noise of people walking on the floor above us was very noisy but stopped after they went to sleep. The great breakfast and quiet location overrides the noise. Would stay here again but on the top floor.

This place it’s a real gem! Beautiful room (n.1) and amazing view! The main area/reception/breakfast is in a exceptionally restored barn! Surrounded by mountains, hills and river it’s a really nice place to stay. The road it’s not the best but better than most in Iceland!

In the middle of nowhere, by the river and amidst a beautiful landscape, this little guesthouse was our home for one night touring the ring road.

We were so happy to stay there instead of Akureyri directly. The family room with two separated bedrooms was very spacious, clean and modern. The staff was very friendly and the highlight was the hot tub in the garden (perfect after a run or a long day on the road).

There is only one minor issue: There were a at least 6 houseflies in our room. It's not the biggest problem in the world but it can be annoying when trying to sleep.

Everything else was perfect and so I can highly recommend this place.

Arriving late afternoon we were friendly welcomed by the lobbyist at the counter in the main building where the breakfast room  was located too. We got a nice clean refurbished room near the entrance of the lodging building 5/5, good clean bathroom 5/5, parking near the room free of charge 5/5, Flat screen tv and free wifi stable and fast 5/5.
The room is furnished with 2 chairs and a working desk 5/5. View to the mountains.
The beds are wide enough and long, good for people like me over 1,95m. 5/5

We needed to wash our laundry but there is no laundry service. The lobbyist offered us to take care of our laundry which we accepted with pleasure, perfectly done, top service! 5/5 We strongly recommend this hotel for the one who likes beautiful landscapes, quietness and peaceful environment. No 5 star but very good and class service .5/5

Room was adequate, clean, no frills.  But the common area in a remodeled barn is a fantastic place to enjoy a meal, a drink, or play a card game, read or spend time relaxing and chatting.  Large windows frame an unbeatable view of the mountain valley with a picturesque river running through.  A great get away!

This hotel is based in restored farm buildings operated by the owners living in the farm close by. Restoration was not completed but yet the room was in a very good condition. Breakfast and general service was good.The owners are very friendly. Note: The place is very remote and quiet. It's ~20 min. to get to Akureyri. Compared to other hotels I consider the price adequate.

It was a bit difficult to find and about 30 minutes outside of Akureri, but worth the drive. Staff was really friendly and accommodating. The guesthouse had a kitchen, but we opted for dinner in the small restraint (the old converted barn). dinner was a homemade Icelandic meat soup with lots of Lamb. it was excellent and the simple breakfast was also good. Enjoyable and very seinic.

This is a small hotel in an even smaller town--apart from the hotel, it consists of one farm and a tiny church in a valley. The scenery of the mountains is gorgeous and visible from the rooms and the hotel's common area. It's simple--shared bathrooms and rooms are not serviced everyday. But it's very clean and comfortable, with a nice modern feel. It's very convenient to all the sights in the area. It has cooking facilities also.

I wouldn’t talk about the place itself because I didn’t stay, this is why: I received a call on my way to the property to tell me that my booking (booked 10 months in advance) was cancelled. Imagine the situation me driving in the idle of Iceland, my wife and 2 small kids in the car with no place to stay, and we booked 3 nights. The only explanation I got is that they had “problems with the booking this summer”, but come on! I booked 10 months in advance!!!
So “thanks” to this unprofessional owner our holidays were almost spoiled, hopefully we found another place to stay but… is it serious to cancel a 3 night stay on the very same day your guest have to arrive for a room they booked 10 months in advance?
If you don’t know how to treat your guests and run a guesthouse you should better find something suitable to do with your life, but don’t do that again to anyone, cancelling the room on the same day for 2 adults and 2 kids and leaving them without other choice than trying to desperately find a place to sleep that night is not a way to (decently) run a business
