Excellent hostel, really clean and spacious. Guy running it was super nice and helpful. Very well located and has good bathroom facilities. Has good WiFi and a nice kitchen area. Went with friends and would recommend

1 week stay

As my first hostel experience I didn’t know what to expect, and this place was a pleasant surprise. After finding the entrance (which wasn’t the easiest) we were welcomed by a friendly staff member. The place is small, cozy, has a roomy locker and quite a bit of space to store other things in. There appears to be only one bathroom and one toilet, this was never a problem since we always used them late at night or early in the morning and the structure didn’t host many people. Very close to the center, I suggest going to Szimpla Pub if arriving late, it’s close and very nice and typical. Overall a perfect experience, would recommend to anyone. Yeah 

Perfect

Just finished a 3 night stay at Metropolis and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Our flight to Budapest was late evening & then delayed, but simply paid a €5 fee for late check in. Despite arriving around 1am, our host was extremely helpful in showing us around & also provided us with a map of the city, marking off the nearest underground station (a few minutes walk away) & other points of interest for us - this was great for us as first time visitors to the city! The location of the hostel is very accessible and there are shops, fast food places & bars in easy walking distance. 

In terms of the hostel itself, it was very clean & there is a lovely modern shower, there is a small fee of €2 each for towels. Beds are big and comfortable & the curtains across the pods give you a good sense of privacy. We didnt use it much but the kitchen was handy, each sleeping section has allocated fridge space and labels are provided to mark off your food. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back!

Everything you need from a hostel!

Had a brilliant first time experience in this hostel which is located in such a good spot, 5 mins from the underground, 15 mins from the ruins bars, facing an Aldi. The hostel owner was incredibly friendly and helpful with the map, he also came to work early for my early check in. They are very responsive to messages. The Hostel isn’t suitable for people with accessibility problems, it’s up 3 flights of stairs and some of the beds are up more stairs too. The hostel is small but has everything you need and is cleaned regularly plus that means that it’s quiet for you to sleep in. The hostel has really fast WiFi and a phone you can use too. 

Negatives:

The sheets are polyester and not cotton
The sign is very small for the hostel so it’s hard to locate especially for taxi/transfers
There could’ve been easier access to windows as it felt a bit stuffy at times
No fire exits shown

Perfect central hostel, basic but fantastic for the price.

It's a perfect place to stay. Located in the city center of Budapest it has everything: a nice kitchen you can cook basic meals, clean toilets and bathrooms, crispy white bedsheets and carpeted floors (they ask you to leave your shoes in boxes at the entrance, so bring slippers if you don't like to walk in your socks). The place is very civil, no parties, so we had no problem sleeping. The WIFI is also excellent, not secure, but the signal is very strong.

Very clean and convenient, polite staff, quiet

I've been to many hostels in Budapest, all of which were cheap. Some are dirty, some are noisy, some are both. Metropolis is the fantastic exception to the rule.
Every space is cozy and home-like: nice lights, very clean, silent and always warm. The toilets are always clean and, although there are only two showers, there are four sinks you can use. We did not only like the fact that all is clean and not noisy, but also how clever all is: the room had a double bed (with two individual duvets and pillows), a small table next to it and also two double pegs on the walls and two different types of lights. In short, space is really well-organised. Because rooms don't face each-other nobody can see you at night, even if someone goes out of their rooms. The other spaces in the hostel (fridge and cupboards) are equally clever, as they are clearly marked with the colour of your room, so there's no problem in finding anybody's belongings in your space. All looks new and tidy and the common spaces (living-room and kitchen) have more facilities than regular hostels: carpets, flat-screen TV, puffs, oven... Plus, there's free sugar, tea and coffee in the kitchen and it's not far from the city centre. We loved it and I'll totally go back there when visiting Budapest again. :)

Best Hostel in Budapest

Really clean and nice place to stay for one or more days with your friends, family or in couple.
Very nice staff present for all information.
Perfect quality/price ratio and not far from the center.

We just returned from our trip to the Metropolis Hostel. We really loved it. 
If you are after a quiet hostel in a good location with good facilities and comfortable beds, book this hostel.
Its by no means a party hostel. There is not much socialising going on and people just do their thing. 
We recommend to use google maps to find the hostel as it is not that easy to find depending on which direction you arrive from (the sign is facing only one way).
The public transport options around the hostel were great and you can get into the city really quickly by bus or metro.

We used the kitchen on both nights we stayed at the hostel. It was clean and we could cook basic meals. There is a big ALDI supermarket just across the street which made life a lot easier.

Only fault I could find is that you get charged if you arrive after 10pm which sometimes you cannot help if your transport is running late. There is no 24 hour reception but the owner was really friendly and gave us all the information we needed for our stay.

This is a safe, well-located hostel with great facilities. So if you are looking for a good night sleep in a quiet hostel. I can´t recommend this hostel more.
