The villa itself is beautiful and set in great surroundings a few minutes by car from lovely beaches. 
Mr and Mrs Manolis and Stella made us feel very welcome and offered excellent advice as well as providing treats and goodies during our stay. 
We particularly enjoyed our meals at Giannikos taverna and the Veranta restaurant both within easy walking distance.
We had a fantastic holiday and would not hesitate to book the villa again. 

Fabulous Villa with Wonderful Hosts

We have  just returned from a 2 week stay at Villa Manolia and quite frankly we have had the most amazing time in a beautiful, spacious and very well equipped villa.Having arrived very late we were astonished to find waiting for us a delicious pasta dish and Greek salad, fresh bread and wine. The personal service extended throughout the stay with many visits from the family with Cretan delights...Cheese pies, puddings, cakes and fresh cherries to name but a few. The location and position of the villa were perfect. There are 3 dining areas outside, each perfect for the morning sun, the afternoon and the evening. There are 3 fantastic tavernas within an easy stroll away all serving traditional Greek food at exceptional prices for the quiet evenings and the town of Rethymnon  is a 10 minute car drive away for the livelier evenings and shopping trips. In our experience this is a real gem. we had spent many hours googling villas etc and this is by far the best. Thank you again for the care and attention throughout our stay .... We will definitely return .

Amazing Villa

We spent one September week in Villa Manolia with three generations, 7 adults and 4 children altogether. 

The villa is very beautiful. There is plenty of space for a big family and you can find there everything you need. Unbelievable hospitality of Mr Manolis, Mrs Manolia and Stella made us feel like home. On arrival we found fresh fruit, wine and beverages and a delicious cake waiting for us, and later of Mrs Manolia treated us with other delicious bakings. Thank you so much!

The Prines village itself is beautiful and quiet local village - very genuine Cretan. We loved every corner! There are a couple of tavernas in the village, only couple of minutes from the villa by foot. We ate at Giannikos Taverna several times, loved the food and the atmosphere. There are also two mini markets in the village, one is run by Mr Manolis and Mrs Manolia. 

The location of the villa is excellent. Rethymnon is only 15 minutes by car, and even the south side of the island is very easy to reach (less than 1 hour). We made several short trips to different parts of island. 

We would definitely go again!

Stunning villa in lovely Cretan village

We shared this wonderful villa between two families, 8 of us altogether.  Stella met us on arrival and showed us to the villa.  It is even more beautiful than the photographs.  Mr Manollis and Mrs Manolia had left us fresh fruit, wine and a delicious cake.   The villa is extremely spacious and has everything you need for your holiday.   Everyone enjoyed the beautiful pool with its plentiful supply of sun loungers and inflatables, even a pool volley ball net and blow up jet ski!!!
 The villa was spotless and was cleaned twice during our 10 day stay, with a special treat of a dessert made by Mrs Manolia suprising us in our fridge.  Stella was very helpful, ordering taxis and giving us useful local information.   The village centre of Prines is a five minute walk with 2 tavernas and a good local shop owned by the family.  We ate 3 times at the Giannikos Taverna which was excellent.  Rethymnon  is only about 15 minutes away by car.  We also found a beautiful beach near the Paradise taverna  which also has excellent food and free sunbeds (ask for directions from Stella) and a fantastic lake where you can swim. hire pedalos and canoes.   We all had a fantastic holiday, thank you to Stella and the Family.

Wonderful holiday in Villa Manolia

Made an enquiry regarding villa Manolia, Prines in November 2016 and received prompt response - very good.
However, when I started booking procedure the price as shown on OwnersDirect was raised by 22%.  I queried this with the 'owner' but 4-weeks later have not received a response to this.  Naturally I didn't book this and chose an alternative villa with another owner and booking process went smoothly.
I was very disappointed with this as all reviews appeared positive - hence our choice to book this - and I had a good feeling about this villa and its owners. 
I am not making a judgement against this villa as there may be a very good reason for not receiving a second, follow-up e-mail, but I feel my experience should be made available in case similar price increases occur to other potential customers.
