Already written a few reviews of the 9muses but thought I’d just reiterate what a great hotel this is. Stayed last 10 days of the season in the superior double rooms. Hotel has the perfect combination of location and superb personnel. Everybody that works at the hotel are extremely friendly and professional. Good to see the same faces year after year and a special shout out to Aris who looked after us in the restaurant. Also Alex who I’m sure never gets any sleep, the lovely Angela and Lydia,Manos as always, and of course Nikos. 
Perhaps the occasional live singer would add to the experience. 
Looking forward to returning next year.

Fantastic as always.

Stayed for 2 weeks. Last week of August into September. Beautiful place opposite Skala Beach. Made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Well manicured gardens and lovely rooms. Front of the Hotel is the Avra restaurant which is part of the hotel. We were half board and ate all of our meals here. Breakfast is not self service but this was not a problem. Good selection of fruit, cereals and the normal fried option if you preferred. All very clean and served from behind a counter by the waiters. You could have lunch here or at the pool bar. Good selection and reasonably priced. Toasties, omelette, burgers and various salads. Evening meals were some of the best we have ever had in a hotel. Full ala carte menu. With a good selection for all. Pasta, curry, steak (small additional charges apply), salads etc. Full waiter service delivered by a superb friendly team. Be warned portions are very big so chose your starter wisely or you will struggle to finish like we did 😄.
The hotel has 3 pools. One down by the pool bar which is more for young family's. The second is set back a bit up the hill which is small and quiet. The 3rd pool is up the top of the hill and is adults only. We spent most of our time up there as it was nice and quiet and had a nice pool bar which did lunch time snacks. Great views  across Skala Beach. There was also a small gym up there which some of us used. AC included which was a plus. The hotel goes back up a hill which is a little steep in places. However there are a few hotel buggies driven by the staff available for lifts so dont wory if you struggle with hills.
The hotel is a 5 min walk from Skala Town which is small but has some nice bars and a couple of shops. 
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Little gem of a hotel

Second time in Skala and we were very pleasantly surprised at 9 muses. 
The hotel goes a long way back and as posted by others those with mobility issues will find it a hike but as outlined the staff are Uber friendly and you can get a lift up to the top pool. 
We stayed for 10 days,  b&b in a standard room and found the hotel really lovely. The breakfast was excellent and lots on offer and the service very good. I actually enjoyed the service for breakfast and there was plenty including a cheeky greek breakfast but be warned for the greek coffee on the stove you won’t sleep all day! 
The rooms are functional but the beds were super. 
Skala in September is relaxing and end of season but a bit more relaxed and chilled. Those looking for party time will be disappointed. 
The hotel is very close to the main village but there are plenty of places to eat and get a drink. 
The staff were fab and they were very clear about everything including the tax and the safe price. 
In terms of negatives, 
please consider and treat your guests to a day or two on the beach lounges for free?
Please upgrade the gym with a couple of bikes. The two running machines were not working or damaged and would have loved to use the machines as you have invested in creating a decent gym space.

Chilled and relaxing

This hotel is a piece of paradise staff were brilliant food was amazing everything ran like clockwork nothing was too much trouble well done keep it up would recommend this hotel to anyone well worth the visit

9Muses Skala 

Just back from a week at the 9 Muses. First visit to Kefalonia and we fell in love with it. 
9 Muses is a fabulous hotel with fabulous staff. We booked the basic room rather than executive suite which was more than adequate for us. Rooms are basic but very comfortable and cleaned every day and clean towels left. 
The complex is village style and built on a slight incline. The executive suites were at the top of the hill overlooking the adult only pool. It was a bit of a hike for those with mobility issues but Alex and his golf buggy was always available to take you the short trip up the hill.
The restaurant overlooks the beach so we had breakfast looking at the sea each morning. Even got up early one morning to watch the sunrise which was beautiful.
We were b&b at 9 muses but the food was so delicious we had our evening meal there a couple of times. It is waiter service rather than self service.
Skala centre is a short stroll away where you will find lots of lovely restaurants, bars and giftshops.
We hired a car for 3 days and saw quite a lot of the island. We both decided Skala was our favorite resort and would definitely return.


Thoroughly enjoyable stay

Simply the best! Excellent accommodation fantastic staff, good food and all rooms are excellent thoroughly recommend! Accommodation within easy  walk of local town with plenty of shops etc! Very relaxed and friendly holiday! 

Love this holiday 

So we booked the final week of the season and were blessed with gorgeous weather. On our arrival our bags were taken off to our room on a gulf buggy. The check in process was straight forward with friendly reception staff. Our room had everything we needed, very comfy beds, fridge, kettle and a lovely walk in shower. There was a safe and air con in the room.
The hotel is a little like a small village as others have mentioned with perfectly kept gardens, spotlessly clean everywhere. There are three pools, we spent most of the time at the stunning top pool, one of the finest hotel pools I have ever seen.
After reading reviews we booked half board, we usually go self catering as we like to walk out to find places to eat in the evening but we were not disappointed, the food is amazing, a huge menu and huge portions! The staff are so friendly always having a little chat and a laugh, made us feel so welcome. On the Friday night there was a singer guitarist Hollis (sorry if I’ve spelt this wrong!) what a great night, plenty of drinking, dancing and finished off with some Greek dancing, a thoroughly entertaining evening 
We went on one TUI trip to the island of Ithaca which was a lovely day out, plenty to see and the tour guide had a wealth of knowledge and love for the island, we are all now much better versed in Greek mythology 
I would not hesitate to return to Nine Muses Hotel, we had a fantastic holiday thank you to all the wonderful staff for making it a very special week

Perfect place to relax!!

Just had a wonderful week here. Can’t fault anything. 
Wonderful hotel with great views. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and happy. It was the last week this hotel was open but still nothing was too much. 
As for the food, I don’t know where to start, we chose half board option, what a good choice that was. The menu is extensive and even though two of our party of four don’t eat meat we never had the same meal. Every starter, main and desert (if you had room for one!) was beautifully cooked and extremely tasty.

What a fabulous week

9 Muses What a wonderful Hotel,Our french break was cancelled and I found this week in Scala what a wonderful hotel and location it could not have been better. We had a lovely room in the new section beside the adult pool. It was cleaned every day . we were on Bed and breakfast but eat in the restaurant every night as the food  and service  was fantastic. I do hope we can make it back next year depending on my husbands health.

What a great hotel!

We initially booked for 7 days and quickly extended it to 10 as we were having such a lovely time. Maria and Yannis on reception could not have been more helpful with this.

The bus trip from the airport took about an hour and a half, Sue the rep from Tui kept us entertained with a running commentary about local sites, views and history. Thanks Sue

When we arrived we were met by Maria and Yannis in reception (both very happy and welcoming) and were allocated rooms. The bags were delivered to the room before we even left reception. Our room was near to the top part of the “original” complex, so probably mid point between the new rooms and adult pool and the front of the hotel where the Restaurant is. 
The room was ideal and had great air con, a kettle (most important) TV, hairdryer, fridge, and a safe(extra charge for the safe). The bathroom was spot on with a lovely shower that had hot water that never ran out!  We have been to many other hotels where the showers have been hit and miss. The beds were very comfortable. There was also an ideal sized balcony with a hanging rail, table and two chairs. The cleaners were chatty and happy especially Maria!!  Our room was always immaculate with flowers and pretty shapes made with clean towels everyday. Thank you Maria. 

The food in the restaurant is terrific, although the portion sizes were too large for us, we soon realised that we didn’t need a starter and a sweet every day, just a main course. There is a great choice of both traditional Greek food and international cuisine for your evening meal, there is something for everyone (even fish fingers and chips if that’s what floats your boat!). All served at your table by happy, professional caring staff Aris, Panagiotas, Olga, George, Silvana and Nicos and also included every day, a fabulous view over the sea to the local islands. Breakfast is served from behind a plastic screen (remnants of Covid restrictions) by a great group of staff, (Aris, Nico, Panagiotas and Costas). 
They all have a great sense of humour whilst still being very professional. 

The grounds are very well tended by “an invisible ground staff”. There are no bits of rubbish lying anywhere, all the staff must be extremely “house proud” and make every effort to keep standards up. 

The three pools are all great in their own way, the “bottom” pool is ideally positioned for the lower bar, where you can buy snacks and beer for lunch and is well used, the “middle” pool is very quiet and ideal for sunbathing and the top “adult only” pool is just so quiet with a little bit of background music playing from the snack bar where there are lots of options for hot and cold snacks and drinks served by Dimitra and  Silvana, again, 2 wonderful happy and helpful staff. The majority of adults were reading or listening to music on their headphones and a few would swim or paddle. The pool is one of the best I have swam in whilst abroad, the views from here both out to sea and to the local mountains are amazing. There are more than enough sun beds for everyone, you do need to bring your own towel or buy one locally though. The hotel have sun beds on the beach over the road, but like any beach you have to rent them. 

If you walk out of the hotel and turn left there are two small supermarkets 5 minutes away selling cobs, water and any other items you may need for your hotel room. If you turn right Skala is 10 minutes away and you can buy all the bits and bobs you might need including holiday gifts etc. There are lots of tavernas/bars to eat and drink in. It’s a very nice typical Greek holiday village.
