Evangelia Hotel offers spacious self contained apartments equipped with everything You might need for a comfortable stay. Easy parking right out the front and a pleasant stroll down to the port make this an excellent base. Spiro and his wife were warm and welcoming and very helpful in answering questions related to our future travels. 
This Hotel is  good value for money and is located on the edge of town …. But still an easy walk into the bustling port area. We bought breakfast provisions from the minimart and enjoyed eating on our porch area outside the apartment. We had  a wonderful stay and Highly recommend this hotel

Everything you need for a wonderful stay

We found this on booking.com but actually knew nothing in advance of the town/village or the hotel.
On arrival (at 10.30pm) we found the owner waiting for us with keys.
We found the apartment spacious, well appointed, and scrupulously clean.  There were separate air-con units in each of the two bedrooms and also the main room, and they worked(!).  Each bedroom has two single beds and cupboards/wardrobes.  There were two balconies, one with a table and chairs.  There was a clothes-drier on each balcony.  Two toilets/shower rooms, fridge/freezer, oven/hob, kettle, coffee-makers, iron and board.  One omission was a microwave, but maybe that was just our room.
On arrival the fridge had basic provisions, but there are several supermarkets very nearby, all open 7-days, one open till 11.30pm.
The town/village is a small port/marina with many moored yachts, pavement cafes, shops, etc.  Not strong on night-life, but that's normal for Kefalonia.  Folk did swim in the harbour (the water is crystal-clear all around the island) but there are nice pebble beaches on the way to Sami, which is about 7km south.  Sandy beaches are harder to find, but we don't like them anyway.  Myrtos beach, much advertised, is over-rated.
In our opinion Kefalonia is mainly for peace and quiet, swimming, and some water sports.  More "cultural" activities/sights are thin on the ground.
The roads are very windy, narrow and steep.  Progress is slow, even though the roads were fairly quiet.  Don't get a big car!  The road from the airport to the main road is poor, narrow, slow, steep, and un-nerving in a new-to-you hire car at night.

Very good set of appartments

We stayed in the room at the ground floor and was pleasently surprised by the warm welcome. Food in the fridge, domestic eggs, bread and a bottle of wine waiting for us in the apartment which was perfect for day 1. Everything you think that you need Spyros has it. Fully equipped kitchen (toaster, coffee maker and juicer with tea and small packages of marmelade). Salt, pepper, oil and vinegar, even kitchen cloth, all those little things that you need when you prepare your light meals in the apartment but never remember to bring from home or don't want to buy the big pack in the store.
The apartment is very spacious, extremly clean and comfortable, one of the best accomodation that we have ever been.
Spyros also has books on the receptions desk, that you can borrow, infos on excursions, bus timetable, and even some umbrellas and kids beach toys.
Great value for money.
Agia Efimia is a really beuatiful and charming village, with a great position to go around the island.
We will be back for sure, this time to combine Kefalonia and Lefkada.

Everything was perfect

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Evangelia and would highly recommend it. The hotel may be 3* but the service was definitely 5*! The apartment was clean (and regularly cleaned throughout the week), we had fresh laundry every other day and the welcome pack (including local food in the fridge) was a lovely touch and much appreciated. The bedrooms have air con and the bathrooms have mini toiletries- ideal if you like to pack light! 

The beaches in the village are very small, so a hire car is advisable if you want something a bit more commercial. Antisamos and Myrtos are both just a short drive away. If you are going to the beach, the hotel has a selection of parasols and beach inflatables which you are free to borrow, which is great as it saves buying them locally or bringing with you.

The local shops and restaurants are less than a 5 minutes walk away, so ideally located. 

The hotel staff are all very friendly and approachable with any problems or questions you might have. They advised us on places to go locally and even gave the children a little going away gift, which was very sweet of them. 

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again if we return to Kefalonia. 

A warm welcome and 5* service

We stayed in Evangelia for a week from October 11th it was superb, we had a 2 bedroomed apartment and the manager/owner Spiros couldn't have been more helpful. Beds were very comfortable and the apartment was very spacious. The bedding/towels were changed 3 times in a week but maybe it was because we were the only people in the apartment at the time! There were toiletries provided in the showers which were proper cubicles. When we arrived there was a fridge stocked with peaches, tomatoes, cucumber, sliced bread, eggs, butter, orange juice, yoghurt and a welcome bottle of wine. There were also tea bags some coffee sachets, sugar, honey and jam. We even were given a parting gift of Greek sugared almonds. A nice touch.

The view was ok for us, the balconies looked over the small street but conifers blocked the view of the field beyond in which you could hear the sheep's bells which was kind of relaxing. you could see the mountains either side but there was a piece of land for sale next door which was a bit unkempt. None of this bothered us as it was beautifully quiet and the apartment was so comfortable. It was only a short walk to the shops (5 mins top) so great for collecting bread from the bakery in the morning.

Excellent accommodation with great customer service.

We stayed in Evangelia for a week at the end of August while getting married on the island.  We arrived at the hotel and the staff / owners were amazingly friendly.  Our room was massive compared to what we paid and very clean.  There was a full set of groceries in the Fridge and a bottle of wine waiting for us!  The cleaning staff were amazing and even folded my clothes.

Location-wise it's right next to the best supermarket we found and although it's one of the farthest from the beach / harbour, Agia Efimia is so small that you're talking about a 60 second walk to both.

It's probably the best self-catering accommodation we've stayed at in the last 5-10 years in terms of value, friendliness and the quality of the accommodation.

Great week, great value, great room

A truly nice apartment hotel. The rooms were spacey extremely clean and everything was brand new (furniture appliances and so on). Nice balcony for breakfast or just relaxing. Doors and windows also brand new and with a system to prevent mosquitoes flies and other insects to enter. Big fridge with a lot of presents from the owner inside (fresh eggs, wine, bread etc). Everything you need is included (hair dryer, iron, toaster, boiler and many many other appliances). Very hospitable owners always willing to offer information and help when needed even without you asking. Easy parking just outside the hotel.
On the downside no twin bed and no sea view but I think that next to the quality of this place these facts are secondary.
I think in combination with the village of Agia Effimia it is one of the best choises in Kefalonia! I would gladly stay there again!
