Can't write highly enough on my experience during my extended stay at Summit Zero while exploring the Litochoro area and training for a trail running event. Firstly the attention and service received from the people working there, Louisa and her exceptional cooking, Alan with his focus on making sure everything is looked after and nothing is a problem along with ensuring that your musical needs are well addressed given his extensive music knowledge.  Peri the owner, could not be faulted in his desire to making your stay exceptional and memorable for the right reasons. The mix of people staying made for interesting conversations and lots of fun. All that and being only 150 metres to the beach makes for an exceptional place to stay.

Summit Zero, exceptional stay.

Summit Zero hostel has a friendly environment and I think it is perfect for mountaineers travelling to and from Mount Olympus. Its position close to the beach is great too! If you want to eat, there are two tavernas next to the hostel. You can also shop food in nearby towns Litochoro or Katerini where you can get by bus from the Gritsa bus stop.

Friendly environment, perfect for mountaineers

Spontaneously deciding to climb Mt Olympus my partner and I turned up in Litochorro train station asking for the nearest hostel. Too cheap for a taxi we decide to take the hour walk. It's night time, we're two girls walking down a dark highway alone. The same taxi driver we didn't have money for earlier stopped and was our first taste of the friendly community in this area as he gave us a lift to the hostel for free because he couldn't leave us walking alone down the highway like that at night. 

We were going to just camp on the beach near the hostel but Summit was our warmest hostel welcome in our two months travelling and it drew us right in. The old dog barking at the new comers was quietened by our new #1 favourite parent of all time, Tina, who came out with big smiles and brought us inside to the cosy reception area to look after us. Everyone working had an easy warm smile and chat for us. Tina's young son she's travelling with was a treat to meet, really unique kid and absolutely lovely. 

We ended up spending an extra night here before climbing the mountain because it was so lovely between the hostel, the food, the people, the slack line on the grass out the back, the beach right across the road. Perfect slice of heaven before and after your climb, or even if you're just passing through.

Warm welcomes after long travels

We felt pretty comfortable in the hostel. The people are super open minded. We loved the garden and the area around it and would definitely recommend summit zero for everyone! Thank u for staying there.

Stayed for another unplanned night in Litochoro after summiting the mountain of the Greek Gods and Summit Zero was perfect for the extra night. It was easy relaxing friendly and Stella is wonderful. Cooks cleans and keeps you happy. Super women. Met lovely people at the hostel. Its right on the beach and what better way to relax and unwind with the sea in arms reach. Thank you Summit Zero. Outstanding hospitality.

Nice ambient, great food, clean facilities. If you come here to the some of the tracks at Mt Olympus, Perikles has all the information you need, as well as maps, books and others. It's really hepfull.

Beautiful relax spot

My friend and I spent three days at Summit Zero in mid-September, just after the summer crush was over.  For the most part, it was an excellent stay.  The location is wonderful- steps from the beach, convenient to the town.  The grounds are large and the atmosphere soothing.  The hostel was quiet- only a few guests, so there was never an problem with access to the bathrooms/showers (although I suspect this could be an issue when the hostel is fully booked).  Our host, Periklis, and his assistant (I'm ashamed that I've forgotten his name) were polite and extremely helpful, particularly when my friend had difficulty finding her way back to the hostel after hiking Epinea Gorge.  The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the linens clean. We were a little disappointed at the lack of access to the kitchen, as the advertised amenities indicated otherwise, and we were surprised to be charged for coffee in the morning; we weren't aware of this until we were presented with a bill at check-out.  We weren't told that we had to ask to turn on the diesel heater for hot shower water- something a sign in the showers would have told us, had one been posted.  I'm thinking these oversights were a combination of end-of-season fatigue and new staff.  They are all relatively small things, but, had they not happened, I would unquestionably have given an "Excellent" rating.  As it is, I would certainly recommend Summit Zero as a place to stay.

Close to perfect.

Wonderful place at the base of Mount Olympus but also 2 minutes from the beach. Super relaxed atmosphere, a beautiful garden with plenty of tables to chill out. Simple dorm rooms for a great price. But most importantly: Perikles helped me with exactly what I needed, including some things that he could have refused to do or overcharged for.
