Hotel-Restaurant Morgenstern

The reception on arrival was warm and convivial. The owners made us feel very welcome and that stayed with us for the length of our evening - even though we were the last to leave! While my grasp of the German language is rudimentary, the menu was easy to understand and the staff were happy to explain unfamiliar ingredients. I chose gazpacho for starter and pork medallion for mains. The gazpacho was refreshing and full of flavour and the pork medallions were cooked beautifully and served with crispy seasonal vegetables and Spätzle. A chilled glass of local wine was a great accompaniment. We only dined at Hotel Morgenstern on this occasion, but if we're in Speyer again, I would be very happy to book a room in this very friendly, family-run hotel and sample some more of the menu!
