A campsite I recommend. Kindness of staff who respond quickly if you have a small problem. Cleanliness both in the accommodation and everywhere. Beautiful swimming pools. Restaurant at the top. Near Blackfoot, Pornic. The sands of Olonne. Thank you for your hospitality. Two nights with entertainment in September is quite rare.

great family vacation in a big mobile home

Super camping we spent a great year between a week in may and a few days in september the staff at the top of the same restaurant we ate super well thank you for the pine colada super well we'll be back next year sense worries a big thank you to the director for your welcome at next year good end of the season

Staying

The only thing missing is no animation in the evening and the mobile homes are too crowded with each other barely a meter apart which separates the rooms gives on the terraces so to watch complicated.

It's too bad.

The team is really super nice and quiet for nights with little kids or for people who want to be quiet at night.

Restaurant at the Top

We have just arrived home from a fantastic 10 night stay at La Yole. Where to start… On the day we were due to arrive we had a problem with our car which resulted in us just about making it to the site but then needing to arrange to get our car into the garage to be repaired. The reception staff at the site were incredibly helpful, offering to contact a local garage and translate for us. They went above and beyond what we could have ever expected, liaised with the garage for us throughout and even came to our pitch to give us an update which they’d phoned for without us even having to ask.

The site is spotlessly clean and very well maintained - there are groundsmen/women working day in and day out to keep the site tidy and welcoming. This also goes for the pool area - we observed one afternoon the lifeguard entering the one pool which wasn’t being used and cleaning it, along with the jacuzzi.

We didn’t visit the onsite restaurant due to a poor experience there when we visited last year, however, the food did smell and look delicious so it would appear that the staffing at the restaurant has changed/improved.

We found the best time to visit the pool was around 12-2pm if you like it to be quiet. On 3 occasions we had the entire pool to ourselves between this time. There is a slight lack of sun beds during busy times however people do come and go quite frequently so you can usually find a bed without having to wait too long.

We’ll certainly be visiting again in the future and we’d like to say thank you again to the fantastic reception staff who really did save our holiday with their kindness and willingness to help.

Simply Fantastic.

We went in July 2023 as a couple and our stay was very good. The campsite is great, the services offered are real, but it is mainly the team that is at the top: professional, understanding and helpful.

A very clean and family-friendly campsite where we had a great time together as a family. It's a pity that the campsite is less busy at the end of August but a big thank you to the swimming master and animator Corinne who made us spend crazy mornings at the pool!!

Holidays to the top!

Family campsite and very welcoming staff are always available and listening. The infrastructure is perfect. Cycling tracks are nearby. Very well located. Thank you for this stay and I'll see you soon

It's great camping!

This was the second time we had stayed at La Yole.  The first was August 2019, perhaps due to pent up demand August 2022 was definitely busier.  

The site is situated about 10-15mins drive from St Jean de Monts itself, a short (1.5km) walk away from le Plage des Mouettes.  It’s an excellent base to explore the local area, quite a few attractions like Beauland Park (fun fair) and Atlantic Tobbogan (water park) etc are located along the coast road close by.  Further afield you have Ile de Normoutier, St Gilles and even Commequiers with its velo rail and Medieval Festival on the first weekend in August.

The campsite is also close to a lot of cycle paths through the pine forest which leads to St Jean de Monts and further a field.

The site itself is well landscaped and maintained, all trees and shrubs are well cut and trimmed with pitches clearly marked out.  We stayed at a camping pitch with water and electricity.  Only small issue was that there was no grey water disposal at pitch.  I believe if you had a caravan or camper you may have been able to hook up a pipe to some sort of drain but not 100% sure.

If you have children the playground is large and well appointed, it can get busy around this corner of the site, however the pitches are larger here.  The kids club/animations is also well run. Our children used it several days and enjoyed it.

The pool area is busy, there’s a children’s pool, a main pool with a slide, an indoor pool and a heated pool with a small lazy river.  There are also a few jacuzzi areas.   It was quite busy and if you didn’t get a sun lounger early then you were quite stuck. We saw the life guard remove some towels a few times, unfortunately some people would put towels down and not use the beds. Not uncommon in holiday resorts but inconsiderate for other guests.

There are three/four ablution blocks all of which are cleaned to a high standard daily. 

There is a small shop onsite which sells essentials, it’s pricey but there is a Super U express a short bike ride away so generally you’re only using it when you’re stuck.  likewise there is a bakery with a great selection also beside Super U if the shop has run out, or is too pricey.

Reception staff were friendly, helpful and tolerated my attempts at French.  We had booked early but the price had went up between booking and arrival which meant we paid slightly more (about €30) not too much but it was an unwelcome surprise nonetheless.  One small point to raise was the lack of standalone freezer for ice packs.  Perhaps there is little demand in these days of large mobile homes  and caravans which likely have their own freezer compartment, however we use a small camping fridge but like to take a cool bag for picnics and the like.  Somewhere to freeze these would be welcome. We were able to use the staff fridge at reception but it was hit an miss whether they had the room.

The bar restaurant area we found to be a weak point of the site, we only ate take away two nights. The quality of the food was so so and was expensive.  That said it was always busy and they had entertainment on each evening. Some local cover bands, karaoke, a magician etc. The entertainment varied in quality and service at the bar always seemed a bit chaotic.  It was always closed by 2300hrs and generally the site was quiet at night.  Any loud noise came from other sites nearby.   I believe there was one night with unruly guests however these were some distance away and were dealt with by night porter.

We may holiday elsewhere in France in the coming years and see more of the country.  However when we return to the Vendée then I would not hesitate to return to La Yole.
