Enjoyable stay  with good food and local produce. Very nice location by the river and easy driving access. We had an excellent lunch and easy check in. Friendly waitstaff and great lunch and dinner menus were a winner! 

Good food in the country

The rooms are large and airy.  Bed not comfortable.  The en suite loo is in a tiny room with no window and no extractor fan - not ideal.  The reception staff are friendly but you really need to be able to speak French in this hotel.  It is in a lovely location, with many rooms overlooking the river Yonne.  The food is good but quite fancy French.  The buffet breakfast quite disappointing and most of the restaurant staff look either bad tempered or not very happy, and at breakfast we felt they couldn't wait for us to finish and get out!  We have been there several times before, when we have been on our way from Northern to Southern France - quite out of the way, but fun.  However, this time we feel we will not return.

A pit stop from northern to southern France

This hotel is worth the stopover for the quality of the restaurant.  The rooms are adequate, comfortable bed with enough pillows, clean.  The hotel is situated on the river so very lovely for a nice walk.  As well, the hotel has a lovely private park to walk or relax in.  Staff very friendly and competent.  

The food in the restaurat is excellent.  French style `menu` with choices for appetiser, main dish, cheese tray, and dessert.  Excellent rapport quality:price.  Each dish we were served was extremely beautifully presented, and was delicious - with an interesting mixture of spices/flowers/vegetables etc.  Well balanced, creative and imaginative.  As well, the wine list is excellent.

Worth the stay for an excellent dinner.

We stayed for one night in this hotel. Great location, by the riverside, and naturally great views and nature. The restaurant is great, both for lunch and breakfast which we enjoyed. Very nice outdoor terrace. Friendly staff. Great spacious rooms, well kept, clean, all details taken care of. Check out very efficient. Right next to the marina, so if you are leaving or departing, good choice. 

Great hotel and restaurant

We (4 of us) stopped here for 1 night prior to a 2 week cruise on the river Yonne. As a hotel it was very good, everything you expect and very good and friendly staff. Where this "place" goes through the roof is the restaurant and the food. Absolutely outstanding!!! The best meal I've had for a very very long time. My only disappointment is I can only give them 5 Google stars, I should be able to give them 5 Michelen stars. That says it all!!!Enjoy. 

What a restaurant!!

We booked on line months ago to meet friends prior to a canal boat trip. 
Quaint hotel in a lovely setting, but the big surprise was the quality of the meal at the hotel...way beyond expectations.
Enjoyed by all.


Surprised...

We stopped at Joigny returning from a journey on the west coast of France. We enjoyed both the hotel and the restaurant which were outstanding with an excellent ratio between price and quality. The room we had was large, clean, quiet and functional. The beds were excellent (...superb night). The bathroom had a bath and a shower and was also very large. We were so happy that we have chosen this hotel to stop every time we come back from the west of France.

Excellent - We'll come back

We stayed at Le Rive Gauche one night before our boat trip on the Yonne river and canal Nivernais.
The rooms were nice and clean, and the staff very helpful and kind, giving a feeling of a family. The surrondings with the garden and view to the river was beautiful.
The breakfast buffet was good.

A nice atmosphere

We arrived for a two night stay, lovely rooms but .... were told the restaurant was closed, then that it was full and no chance of food or room service for the evening with little alternative close by. After many attempts and begrudgingly, we were offered a table at 10:00pm. Limited menu but sounded good, a bit disappointing on taste. Would recommend hotel.
