A very basic hotel but very clean with a good breakfast not included in price.

I'm a regular user of Brit Hotels across France. Everywhere else i find them good, sometimes excellent. This one we rated poor. Arrived late afternoon to find reception shut till 1730. Dark corridors where we struggled to find light switches. Discovered our room was right on noisy main  road, with no aircon on a hot July evening, so forced to keep window open at night. Went straight back to reception to request a quiet room at the back, and was told the hotel was full. However, we were the first to register at 1730, so obviously not true. Returned at 9.30 pm to find only 8 cars in the car park. So I guess receptionist was just too lazy to change our room!
So, lying receptionist, hot noisy room on main road,dark corridors with poor lighting, nasty plastic shower curtain. Never again! 

The worst Brit Hôtel. 

The whole stay was spoilt by the most the foul smelling bathroom.The price reflected the overall condition and location which would have been acceptable except for stench.Would not stay again even if paid to so.

Mixed review of this hotel . We have stayed many times in the brit hotel dieppe and it is great so when we decided to visit the cotentin area we were pleased to see cherbourg had a brit hotel . Well firstly it is not very welcoming with check-in from 5.30pm ! We were not the only guests  hanging about the car park waiting and then the receptionist took umbrage at us all having the cheek to want to enter via the front door! After check in we made our way up a very dark stairwell only later discovering the light switches . The room was clean but very tired, the toilet seat would not stay up and the shower head had to be tightened with our trusty travelling teaspoon . No tea making facilities in room but there was a microwave . The mattress was very soft which would be ok for 1 night but not the 5 we stayed  . Wi-Fi was very weak . Saying that we did only use it as a base for exploring the area which is very nice . There is a supermarket directly across the street and various bakers and takeaways round the corner . 20min walk down into cherbourg old town but longer back as uphill all the way . 

Disappointing 

Very friendly staff. Excellent value for price paid.

Starting to get a little bit tired but still good value for money.  Clean room. Car parking close and easily reached via a secure night door.  Breakfast provision was excellent as was the dining room.  Staff were very pleasant and helpful.  The only slight drawback was the reception opening times.  Although made clear in the details supplied we arrived tired, following a 7 hour drive, at 1630. Reception opened at 1730 !  Three other groups experienced the same issue.  Our fault entirely.  Just that we have never experienced limited opening hour in a hotel before.  Having said that - around 1600 would be better I feel.Great value and breakfast but read the details for opening hours !

I realise this is a budget hotel but we have learned our lesson.

The lady on reception would win no awards for customer satisfaction. Very surly and abrupt. The stairwell to get to our room (2nd floor) was painted with very dark paint.  Can't remember whether it was dark brown or dark green., but with only a tiny window and some of the automatic lights not working, it was extremely dangerous.

The room (201) was not very clean and the furniture shabby.  It was incredibly hot with no fan or AC unit.  We opened the window to get some air but the road noise was terrible.  The bed was hard and uncomfortable.

The hotel had no restaurant, the one next door closed on Saturday nights, so we had to get into the car and drive to the centre to eat. 

Our fault - we will pay more next time and go somewhere else.

Arrived at 2pm as advised to find check-in not til 5.30pm! Called number provided and received extremely unhelpful and unapologetic assistance from Coralie! I shall not book here again!!! I now havd to wait 3.5 hours to check in instead of being able to settle in on the first day! Given this is a ferry destination this is extremely poor service!

Poor flexibility in check-in

The room was had a very bad smell from the drains in the Bathroom,we had to open the window as soon as we got to the room.When we mentioned at reception she did not apologise but said she would tell the cleaner!(not sure how the cleaner is going to fix blocked drains).
