Don Renno There are many places to visit and stay in El Salvador, some better than others, but let me tell you my experience at Hotel Don Renno in San Julian, Sonsonate, El Salvador. This hotel is on a 134 Acre or 54 Manzanas of farming land which from the entrance has rich sugar cane fields, as well as other crops that extend almost the whole property. Once you cross these fields a ranch entrance type appears welcoming to a modern style facility in touch with nature, overlooking the Balsamo Valley, the Izalco Volcano and nature beauty all around it. Facilities: Don Renno has 18 comfortable rooms with AC, Hot water, room service, and cable tv, prices range from 45 to 69 dollars a night (Breakfast included) depending on guest numbers as well as length of stay. Extended stays can be arranged and price negotiated if requested. Entertainment and Activities: Don Renno has few activities to choose from my preferred ones are as follow in the following order: 1. Tilapia fishing from an artificial pond, (you can cook your own fish, check for prices by the pound $1.50 last time I checked) 2. Buggy Cart riding: you can tour the whole property on a buggy, you can either have a driver take you or you can drive it yourself with a guide as the property is huge, price is $5.00 per run as I remember) 3. Bicycle riding: if you are more in to cycling you can also rent a mountain bike and tour the property, stop on the trails for some photo shooting, selfie with beautiful birds and many other nature available on the property 4. Renting in a Hammock beneath the Forrest: you can rent a hammock the whole day, read and rest the whole day in a quiet, nature and peaceful environment underneath the Forrest they have in of of the sections of the property, you can either order drinks as well as food to your hammock to make you feel like a true guest. 5. Karaoke at night: if your are the singer type of traveler ask for the karaoke, they will satisfy all your singing needs and be a star for a night. 6. Camp Fire at night: when available or upon request they will light the camp fire to enjoy a lovely night around it. Food: the food at Don Renno has different taste and styles, their signature dishes are made out of Tilapia fish fresh out the pond, the Don Renno Tilapia is delicious as well as the Tilapia Ceviche, The Don Renno Burger is amazing, fish sticks are good, Don Renno Pizza tops my list and many more dishes are worth trying, prices are reasonable ($5-$15). You can have your food served wherever you want in the property you make sure you request it in advance. You need to try their Gerlunga Cider from Sweden it is delicious. Other information: credit cards are accepted, tips are included in the food bill, there deers, cows, and horses around for you to observe (you can ride on a horse), San Julian is 30 min from the beach, 45 min from the volcanoes, zip lining, in Apaneca or Ataco and so many more other activities around, I used it as a base camp to move around. Location: Don Renno is in San Julian 45 minutes from the capital San Salvador and 1:30 from the airport. Safety and security: Don Renno is the most safe and secure hotel I have ever been, the whole is property is perimeter built fence, and guarded, no one comes in and out without proper identification, this is a plus as El Salvador is going through serious criminal and safety issues in urban and rural areas, nevertheless this hotel tops security for my choice Remarks and conclusions: Hotel Don Renno is my personal and foremost choice when visiting this part of El Salvador as I get treated as a VIP, my kids are safe and secure, I get to relax and prices are not sky rocketed. The have being open for two years only, therefore there are activities are limited to the ones described above, nevertheless they mentioned more will come. Some people complaint they charge for all the activities and recreational items "People nothing is free in this world" specially good quality, if you are looking for backpackers quality, or pay one and get three free, this is not the place. These hotel is Quality, Reasonable, Family friendly, Safe and secure facility. I am sure i will always make my way there in order to enjoy nature as well as a relax environment and service. Jaime
