I booked on booking.com and was expecting an apartment like it stated but instead It was more like renting a room from the owner who lives upstairs. The bathroom was shared and not the prettiest but it was ok. The host was nice enough and she gave me figs and grapes which was lovely. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed, for the price however it was good. It is also in a great location right in the centre of town.

Great location, cheap price 

Unlike what the name suggests, this isn't actually a hostel but a guest house with a few private rooms. Few opportunities to meet other travelers, but you can hear them at night because the walls are very thin.

We paid 150 EUR per night for 2 people, and were housed in a tiny room that was marketed as an apartment. It was equipped with basic functionality (AC, small fridge, private bathroom) but poorly maintained. The doors falling apart, loose electrical wiring, screws and nails sticking out of walls... Interesting for those looking for a survival experience, but suitable for anyone else.

There are only 2 reasons to stay here, if you're willing to spend so much money at least: the proximity to Diocletian's Palace (only a 5 minute walk away) and the house cats waiting on your bed in the evening.

Not a hostel, very little value for money

A friend and I spent two nights here and the room was very big. It was like sharing an apartment with two other rooms. The location was very very good, in the center. The only missing thing was the wifi, but we could get some for free standing right by the window. A good deal!

Hostel Antonio is not really a place for meeting other travellers as it is not really a hostel, but more an apartment with private bedrooms and a shared bathroom. However, it is in an extremely central location and had cooking facilities which helped to save some money. Our 'double' was a very simply furnished room with 2 single beds pushed together, a wardrobe and a table. But the place was clean and we thought it was good value for the centre of Split. 

I think the lady who owns this place has several places as the pictures on hostelworld seem different to where we stayed. Owner seemed friendly but was quite abrupt asking us to pay immediately upfront and and then said we wouldn't see her again for the whole stay. Overall, cheap and convenient, but don't expect too much.

Don't expect too much

The hostel is comfortable, homely and in a great location. The cat and dog add to the atmosphere of this cute little hostel. The owner is wonderfully warm - she did our washing free of charge made every effort to make our stay great.
