Hostel Villa Isabela

First, Villa Isabela is run by a group of people who are very close-knit and like a family. They were what made my experience unforgettable. A couple of the people who run the hostel were gone so I got to know the a volunteer who was working there and one of the owners and another owner's mother who cooked for us. As a gringo, I was invited early one morning to go cycling on one of the well-made GW mountain bikes on the dirt roads nearby close to the town of Curití, which was apart of a promotion they were doing for their bike business for the International Day of Tourism, having the opportunity to meet the Alcalde (Spanish for "Mayor") of the town as well as the Secretary of Tourism for the Department of Santander. That isn't to say that that is business as usual but that was my experience. Camilo, the guy who runs the cycling program, is in the fewest words possible, a good dude, and will treat you well if you are willing to share friendship with him. The beds are very comfortable and I enjoyed my sleep.
