Wuxi Scholars Hotel

I stayed for 3 nights in this hotel (chain hotel), the location is good for me as it is near to the university where I need to be. It is also close to a subway station which brings one directly to the city centre and also to Wuxi train station ( about 40 mins away). I was told this is a relatively new district, the air here is better as it is near to nature and lots of greenery, although I didn’t get a chance to visit much. I did visit the famous Turtle Neck Nature Park not too far away with beautiful view of the Lake Tai ( third largest in China) and a must go tourist site. You may get some discount buying the ticket from the hotel reception. As for the hotel itself, the lobby is small but nicely decorated with traditional music instruments, calligraphy, tea sets etc. The room is similarly decorated in an Oriental theme, with display of some books. I thought the bathroom is quaint with a round red painted basin. The bed is comfortable and the WiFi is ok. The hot water in shower is a little hard to control, and the TV channel also sometimes freezes and we had to give up watching a program half way twice. Good thing that it seems to happen for only one or two specific channels only. Breakfast buffet serves a few local dishes good for savoring the local favorites but the best for me is the good coffee they have. There is also a good Chinese restaurant on level 2. Overall a pleasant hotel and a good one to choose especially if going to the surrounding area, reasonably priced too.
