Club Med Sanya

Club Med in Sanya is quite simply, outstanding. I booked for two weeks, as a reward for myself after three years of no travel. I was a bit worried about being bored, but this was never the case. The views and grounds are stunning and well kept. Wandering around the property feels like you are in a tropical forest. The food is always impressive and good. Every meal has so many options; vegetarian, lamb, beef (often steak) grilled fish (my favorite), chicken, occasionally shrimp and usually some pork dish. There is always fresh breads of a huge variety. Occasionally, there was a cheese bar, a very rare sight here in China. Thumbs up! I have no children but I am a teacher. I was amazed at the setup for kids and the staff’s incredible kindness and expertise in dealing with them. I wish I was much younger as I would have definitely loved the trapeze activity. The whole resort was flooded with smiling, happy children. The real strength of this resort is with the staff. It begins and ends with Zack, the general manager, an excellent and very competent man, always smiling and friendly. He seems to be everywhere at once, greeting and overseeing everything. The restaurant staff was very efficient and friendly. Special mention goes to the staff at the Deer Bar, notably Frank, Patty, Chery and Cony. They are incredibly competent and accommodating. The biggest surprise was how genuinely witty Frank and Patty are. Very good times together. I enjoyed meeting Edo, the trapeze artist, and we had a good time talking. Kind gentleman. Peggy is another staff member who deserves a good mention. She is kinda the cruise director and herds all the members during group activities, a very upbeat and fun person. Finally, Aron is the best of Club Med Sanya. He is the man who gives tours of the resort but became my advisor and go to guy for help. An excellent person, he helped improve my stay very much! Last, I must mention the swim up room I stayed in. It is essentially a private pool for ten rooms. Worth everything extra I spent to get it. I got to sit in this large pool, reading all afternoon, with friendly neighbors and enjoy the water. I highly, highly recommend the extra expense. I cannot praise the staff and overall experience enough. I had one of my best holidays ever and I am planning to return, hopefully to the exact same room, for a winter holiday.
