GreenTree Inn Jiangsu Changzhou Tianning Cultural Palace Express Hotel

I choose this hotel because I was visiting Changzhou to spend time with a friend who lived nearby and it was reasonably priced and reasonably rated. I walked to it from the railway station with my luggage - about 900m as I recall. The hotel entrance is easy to miss, because it opens off a kind of parking area. Vehicle access to the parking area from the road is controlled by barrier arms, so if you are arriving by foot the entrance itself is easy to miss - look for the name over a kind of arch. The bed was not soft, but I gather this is standard for Chinese hotels and I was tired so it didn't matter. Enough of the staff had enough English that it was not a problem. I needed to pay a RMB200 key deposit, but this was refunded without any problems at the end of my stay (keep the receipt safe). The place was a little worn, but perfectly serviceable and I would happily stay there again. Just around the corner from the hotel is a kind of wet market, with people making delicous Changzhou sesame cake at RMB1 per piece - definitely worth trying.
