We had a great stay at Alacoque B&B Revolution in mid December 2017. The B&B is a quaint home conveniently located near Place des Arts and LE GRAND MARCHÉ DE NOËL DE MONTRÉAL! Christian was a wonderful host, providing us a full breakfast, including eggs cooked to order, cereal, home made marmalade and yogurt, and of course croissants, coffee, and orange juice.
During breakfast each morning, we visited with Christian who was a great help planning our day. He gave us a map explaining how to walk via the warm indoor underground mall all the way to Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal. Also, there are several nice restaurants within walking distance on St. Laurent and it's an easy walk to the gates of Chinatown. If you're traveling via rental car, the free garage is a great money saver.
If you're looking for a true Canadian experience, this is the place for you.

Great Host and Great Location

We spent 4 nights here in September.  Our first impression gave us some qualms about whether we chose a good place to stay.  The building, part of a row house, is very old & minimally updated.  There are exposed stone walls & crooked staircases.  Our room on the lower level however was a good size with an ensuite.  We enjoyed eating breakfast on the 3rd level balcony. The breakfasts were basic - eggs & toast.  We were able to park inside the junky garage off the back lane & left the car there for the duration - we like to walk everywhere.  A big advantage of the B&B is its location within walking distance of Old Montreal, Mount Royal, St Catherine's Street, etc.

The fact that this individual owns any properties is very problematic. Whether it be this bed and breakfast or apartment building on 1185 Seymour which was recently infested with bed bugs +cockroaches. He will absolutely judge you and thinks very highly of himself and it doesn't matter if you speak french to him. He appears to be a true misogynist with absolutely no respect for women. He will leave you stranded  even with a booking and no other place to go and act as if you have never met. Truly a psychopath.

We planned the Labour Day weekend in Montreal.  We booked and confirmed our reservation of 3 nights at this B&B, but when we arrived, the house was dark and closed up.  After knocking at the door, an email, and 2 phone calls, finally, after a half hour, we reached our supposed host by phone.  He said that we didn't have a reservation and that he was 3 hours away, leaving the city for the weekend; the conversation ending with  'what do you expect me to do about it?' While we were left standing on the steps with no place to go or stay, with a few additional phone calls, we were able to salvage our weekend, staying night 1 at a truly lovely B&B who recommended and arranged our second and third nights on our behalf, though in different parts of the city.  We do not recommend anyone to stay here; if you do, remember, you were warned.

STRANDED ON THE FRONT STEPS

I am a young female from the UK who was physically and verbally intimidated by the owner of this property, Alacoque B & B Revolution,  2093 St Urbain St, Montreal, QC H2X 2N1, Canada, Christian Alacoque. For being ten minutes late to leave my room, after we had arranged late check out. Absolutely the worst travel experience of my life, and I travel abroad on average 1 x a month.

Attached you will see the injury that Christian caused me by trying to force open my room door onto me after I closed it on him in fear.

I took a video of it all too, and you need to see it to believe it. Reading the other reviews it is quite clear that Christian is absolutely mentally ill and a danger to all of his guests, in particular sole female travellers. A report is now with the Montreal police, and hopefully the place will be shut down. I have attached a photo of my injury, I'm not sure posting a link here is possible but the video of Christian charging at me, screaming abuse at me and lunging to attack me can be viewed by looking up the profile Saffire J Sandstrom on Facebook, I have made it public there so everyone can see it, and it includes a full description of the events. 

Do not, under any circumstances, go to this B&B. You will not be safe there, and you will be under constant threat of assault and threatening behaviour by Christian, who is always present, and now under investigation with the police due to my experience with him. If I could give less than 1 star I would. 

I'm still absolutely speechless and traumatised that a B&B owner could treat a paying guest in this way.

I did not like my stay at this property.  At all!  On the plus side, the location is hard to beat, close to Place des Arts and the subway.  Very convenient.  I found the owner Christian to be nice, a little odd but in a good way.  Now, I had a few issues, to say the least.  My room was small.  The mattress was the worst I have ever experienced.  I could feel the springs poking me when I rolled in bed.  I woke up frequently during the night, with backaches.  I could hear the floor squeaking upstairs all the time.  But the absolute worst was the bathroom.  Tiny, you can''t close the door for privacy as your legs are in the way.  The sink is over the toilet and it is tiny; it is impossible to brush your teeth cleanly as there is a cupboard sticking over the tiny sink.  The mirror is too high to shave if you are under 1m75.  The toilet paper roll cannot be reached if you are sitting down.  Getting in an out of the shower is difficult.  And yes, there is kind of a musky odor throughout.

Should have gone elsewhere

I had a real horrible experience with Christian, I wish I would have checked out my fellow reviewers earlier. Basically was greeted arrogantly, the rooms smelt bad and were far from appealing let's put it that way. The biggest issue was this Christian guy, who in my humble opinion should not be working with other human beings. He did not make you feel at ease or even welcome. By the time I got to the back garage to park my car after following all of his rules, I felt the place was not right for me and wanted to turn back and go home. I politely expressed my points, and he immediately slammed the garage door down like a lunatic and was yelling through the door. He also said he would charge the room. This is a bad representation of historical Montreal, I am not proud of this place. Felt bad for the poor Americans trapped there for the night, as I drove back home from this hellhole. No amount of fresh croissants or homemade jams make-up for this type of $**#.
