We are a group of 6 girls agreeing on the following: The food was not good and definitely not worth the long wait. They misunderstood orders and made us pay for their mistake. Forcing people to pay a service charge without providing service is also not okay. 
Ps: don’t take the “Risotto” - it’s anything but not a risotto 

Unpleasant stay 

very good value. Simple clean accommodation and all you need for a very good price. Great welcome from the owner, lovely supper on arrival. Did an overnight trek with her partner, staying in a cave once used by his family who were gold prospectors. Wonderful experience of the Diamantina with the people who have always lived there. We didn't see the clear blue lakes on our trip but will do that another time! my 16 yr old loved every minute and so did I.

Great family run hostel

I can't think of many positives about this place unfortunately. Yes, the owner Patricia seemed very friendly, but we barely saw her and the other staff were not friendly. 

We stayed in a private room which was located in between two other private rooms, it had no window, no air flow and was BOILING the entire time. There was a ceiling fan and one normal fan, but it did little to help the situation. It was unbearable. The private room had two single beds and a bunk bed stuck at the back which took up all the room. The mattresses were so thin that you felt like you were lying on hard wood. 

There are only 2 bathrooms downstairs, they are okay, but cleanliness wasn't great. But to get to the bathroom you walk through the common area where the owners are often watching TV so it's really awkward. And the sofa they were sitting on is the only place to hang out, except for your boiling hot room, so you basically have no where to go. Plus you have to walk past the kitchen where they're making food for their restaurant. So strange. And because they're a restaurant you can only use the kitchen 11am-5pm.

Yes the price is low, but we met other travellers who were paying the same as us in Lençois and there rooms were much nicer and had air con etc.

The breakfast was okay, bread rolls, ham, cheese etc. The sugar bowl and table were covered in ants though, pretty gross. We didn't get breakfast first day because Patricia explained the lady who does breakfast hadn't turned up...she did give us a discount for this. But was difficult to get breakfast as it was Sunday and everything was closed and we wanted to get something early before our hike. We also couldn't get breakfast last day before our bus, they kinda need to start breakfast earlier.

We didn't have problems with half day charges or with removing hostelworld discount. But I heard plenty of other people having this problem whilst we were there. They charge you to make leave bags etc.

Basically, I think you can get much better accommodation for the same price in Lençois.

Don't stay here

This was the first pousada I stumbled upon as I got off the bus. Patricia welcomed me in and gave me the tour of the place. I wanted to shop around for the right price so I left only to return half hour later because the rate Patricia was offering was the best, which included a great breakfast. She was kind and patient and opened up a map to show me the various treks and tours and had all contacts to the local tour guides to organize the trips and no extra cost. It is also her home, so she even offered me a delicious meal once and invited me to join the company of her friends on a Sunday night. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Lençois.

Great Place to Stay in Lençois

The hostel location is perfect, right in the middle of all the cute restaurants, near the market, fresh bread, and kickass cheap juice place. Patricia, the hostel owner is so welcoming and understanding of student-budget-itis! We were 9 students traveling together, so she gave us a great deal for tours and the jeep driver she uses is really good, keeps to himself but knows the region really well and can answer any questions you have... you really don't need a guide for the Grutas and Morro do Pai Inacio (but idk if she books just the driver and car without guide). Anywho... Patricia went above and beyond, recommending hikes that we could do in the area FOR FREE and a really cheap but delicious place to eat a simple homecooked meal, called Beko's Bar. HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE!
