We paid for the house with the photos in the ad and arrested it.  but when we arrived they gave us another flat.  We complained about it, but they didn't take us seriously.  We were not satisfied with Belvilla at all.

Belvilla gave us another flat.  Not glad of Belvilla

Over New Year 15 of us (4 families from UK, Germany and France) rented what we thought was going to be a private use only, small hotel  in Udersdorf, Germany. We rented it from Belvilla and it sounded ideal offering plenty of en suite bedrooms, a kitchen/ dining area as well as the private use of the bar area, dance floor, pool table, table football and a skittle alley. However when we arrived the facts were very different! The Dutch owner had just handed it over to another Dutch owner and as part of this on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings the bar (ie what we thought was part of the space we were renting privately) was open to the public until  late and to make matters worse was a smoking bar! Not only did we lose the space we had paid for, we had complete (drunken) strangers able to access all areas of our so called private home, and the smell of the smoke and noise from the disco and voices meant for those first few nights we had very disturbed nights. Given that our party included children this was far from ideal. For the week our living quarters for the 15 of us comprised one long kitchen/diner with a TV at one end and comfortable seating for 3 people! Even when the bar was shut we still had the owners (and their own visitors) living in the property....so we never had any privacy and had to lock our rooms at all times, which was inconvenient and definitely not the relaxing holiday home experience we thought we had signed up for.
We did try to talk to the owners but got nowhere and also e mailed Belvilla but got no response from them despite the website informing us that the office should have been open. We knew that moving 4 families who had all travelled to get to this location was unlikely so decided to make the best of a very bad job. However we do feel disgusted at the response that Belvilla gave us when we contacted them again....can you believe that they didn't actually even bother to respond to our initial emails? They eventually offered us a 10% refund which quite frankly was an insult given the huge cost of the property in the first place and the lack of facilities available. I find it unbelievable that a company who is providing holiday homes has so little regard for its customers and thinks it is ok for them to book a property described as "private" only to find it is far from that. I can assure you we will not be using Belvilla ever again and would advise others to check very carefully before they do...I see there is a very similar complaint to mine posted from another disgruntled Belvilla user.

Private holiday home in Udersdorf, Germany rented from Belvilla was far from private!

We booked this accommodation for a week before christmas with a gropof 9 of us.  Photos posted on chalet finder and belvilla did not match up.  It was advertised as having a bar area, a sauna and recreation room.  A well as internet use.  Upon our arrival it was immediately clear there was no sauna nor a bar.  It is a very strange arrangement, you get basement, then on the ground floor the owners live and then you get the use of the 1st floor.  So which ever way you look at it, you don't have a complete privacy, because stair way is shared and the owners flat does not have a separate entrance, so ultimately the owners are inthe same accomodation as you, and walking around the house in your underwear is not a good idea.  Plus there are couple of kids in the owners flat, that clearly have no understanding of mummy and daddy are renting this chalet, be quiet... NO. Once we asked about the bar and the sauna, the owner just shook her head, and looked at us as if we were aliens ... Then when we complained to belavilla, and 3 days into our holiday, we had a note stating that sauna would be available for us at the neighbouring house, 100 meters away, from 17 to 21.00.  But we had to request that in advance.  But still no news on the bar or recreation area.  I can see on this website that there is no bar no sauna, but recreation area is still being advertised.  And you have no access to it.  Also some of us had to work remotely, so internet was of a high importance.  Only 4 devises were successful in connecting to the network out of 9.  So that inconvinienced us greatly.  Once all these issues were reported to belvilla, not only they failed to address them promptly, we had to chase them and follow up and when asked if we could get a discount, we were offered a "sorry".  A. I would never use belvilla ( nor will my friends). B. chalet Carlo is not well located (25 mins walk to the lifts, nearest restaurant, town) not advertised correctly and not worth the money.
