Quiet location yet close to historical center with a steep uphill walk.Restored Ottoman mansion with carved wooden ceilings in the huge bedroom.no breakfast.no wifi.but warm hospitality.Nice bathroom, in short the feel at home experience.No english spoken, so its body language unless the son who ownes a bar comes home.They will organize onward transportation for you.

We had a pleasant time in Gjirokaster and it was wonderful that we could stay in a traditional Ottoman house with character. The house itself also has kept some "socialist" elements in the furniture, what we found great! The room was just marvelous - very big and in traditional Ottoman style; you are overwhelmed by Gjirokaster's charm, even in your room. The landlady speaks only Albanian, but at our arrival her son was there and he speak English very fluently.
To the old town center it is only a 5 min (steep) walk up the hill.

We enjoyed our stay at guest house Hashorva greatly. We had a very large , lovely room in a traditional house with an amazing view. It is also extremely clean. The of mother the family owning it is very welcoming.  The location is very good, just a short walk to the heart of old town.  While only their son spoke English they were helpful and even dropped us at the bus stop in the new town when we left. I certainly would recommend Guest House Hashorva.

Stayed in the downstairs double exactly as pictured. The bathrooms are very clean as is the room. To be honest it was a good short stay, like all albania there isn't direct transport anywhere particular you get dropped off in the general location. But it was easy to find as the host sent through a detailed map with instructions how to find the house. The room consisted of a few flyers of day trip sites - if you were driving a rental car the sites would be easily reached otherwise not. For comfort the beds and pillows were not cosy but fine for a short stay. There are plently of small supermarkets shops, for food and shops walk to the top of the hill and turn left. Nothing negative to say. Recommend. 

Transport Tip: only ride in the mini-van taxi/buses, (Avoid!) the normal 6 seat wagon taxis are very expensive and unfortunately very temperamental with pricing depending who you are.
