We made a visit to this place and stayed for 3 nights while staying in Ho Chi Minh City the room was quite basic but it had an en suite it was clean and the hosts where very nice and polite we where in a group of three couples and each room had two double beds and we slept quite well it was comfy. Be warned though your likely to be woken up early as it’s near a busy street which is not quite for long. It is really close to the main strip and would hightly reccomend for this. The hosts son speaks good English and is very helpful and the father tries and is very polite even though English is limited, they gave us good advice on places to eat and where great for helping us book activities through them and it was nice to help this families small business. Overall would reccomend but don’t be expecting an amazing room for how cheap and affordable it is. Great for travellers!

Get what you pay for

I stayed here for a month and it was a mixed experience. The family who runs it is not overly friendly, and sometimes gruff. They did not particularly warm to me over time, although the mother of the family would randomly share food with me at times, which was surprising and kind. At one point, the father felt I owed an extra day (which I am still not sure about), and when I was trying to discuss this in English with one the sons, the father got in my face telling me "shhh" and being quite verbally aggressive. The rate was average, as was the room. The room was cleaned only when asked (but cleaned to a good standard). At one point the cleaner broke the toilet and they did not fix it, so I had to flush for the rest of my stay using a bucket. I stayed in a single room, which didn't have a window. They tended to listen to TV VERY loud during all hours of the day and night, but generally easy to sleep at night. Strong AC, very hot water, strong wifi, good location. I probably wouldn't return, but it was a pleasant enough stay.

Nice enough walk up third floor single room with tv,opening window to the outside, hot water, ac & serviceable wi-fi..Most of the younger family members speak good English the older folks just smile. It's just up the alley next to 84 Bui Vien...Quieter than the main street...Other decent guest houses on the alley as well

Family run affordable guest house

Location is terrific, near the traveller ghetto but on a queit side street. In the HUGE room, there is both ac and fan, so you can choose what you like most for the night. The room was very clean. The hotel has laundry service. Locker in the room. Nice, functional, clean bathroom.

Nice, quiet place

This hotel is literally right in the middle of the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area in District 1. The room we had was large and clean with balcony, air con, cable tv, fridge and own bathroom. The location is about 60 metres down a very atmospheric alley way. Compared to the main street hotels this location is unbelievably quiet. It is also one of the safest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The alleyway is full of people that know each other's business and there is always at least one family member in the lobby but more generally two or three. Having spent over 9 months in Vietnam I would have to say that this is the safest place I have stayed in and also one of the quietest city locations. The only negative is the lack of news channels on the tv. Overall, at $15 a night for our room it was wonderful value. We stayed a week.
