We found this hotel when looking for a cheap overnight stay prior to boarding our cruise ship.  The Manager was quick to answer the door after we arrived and provided us with our room key.  The room was clean and satisfactory.  Older shag carpet probably not the best for a hotel, but it works.  The hotel was right off a noisy main road, and we had a room closest to it, but we were tired and we didn't mind it.  The location appeared to be in an older part of Fort Lauderdale and probably not the best neighborhood but we didn't see anything that concerned us.  I wouldn't stay here for an extended stay like a vacation, but it was fine for an overnight.  Saw one cockroach on my suitcase in the morning.

Good choice for quick overnight when going on a cruise

I was totally unfamiliar with the area, and searched TripAdvisor and other sites for budget motel reviews. This seemed like a good value within a short drive of the Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport, so I booked a 3 night stay. The motel is located on busy Hwy 1- Federal Highway, just short of where it joins Sunrise. It is probably roughly the vintage of many other older motels in the Ft Lauderdale/Miami area, mostly single level and constructed of stucco material. While it showed its age, it was carefully maintained and painted, and each unit had a newer window a/c unit and free internet wifi access, as well as cable television. The other guests were quiet and considerate for a budget location. The manager, Chuck, was very helpful and accommodating, as were his assistants. There were a few dodgy characters in the neighborhood, but never felt unsafe there. The motel gave easy access to downtown Ft Lauderdale and the airport, with upscale beach areas, dining, interstates, and Miami within a short drive. For good basic shelter with minimal amenities, this was a very good choice. By the way, I accidentally left a briefcase in my room with valuable items inside. I was delighted to find that staff had found it during cleaning and had carefully saved it for me and called me to notify. That was outstanding, IMHO.

Value For The Money

This motel is out dated and room could use an update, but the room was clean.The rooms did have a small fridge and microwave. Very friendly staff. If your just staying for a day or two and on a tight budget this is the place. If you have kids and are looking for stuff to keep them occupied this might not be the best option, no pool. There is a grocery store right across the street. 2 Mexican places right next door to eat. This is on a busy street but the noise wasn't that bad. We stayed just one night while waiting to go on a cruise. I would stay here again !!

Budget Motel

Stayed here a total of 3 nights. A fair value,considering the location. Convenient if flying into FLL. Room was rough (old),but clean. Bed was comfortable enough. Very small shower stall,with low (and I mean low) shower head. Being a smoker,I went outside to smoke on numerous occasions,and at all hours. There was a continuous stream of some real questionable characters wandering up and down NE 5th terrace (the road that splits the property). Several approached me,and one offered to sell me "meat" ??? (his words) I did not feel safe here. Based on the shady foot traffic here,I probably would look for another motel in the future.

For the budget minded.

It is a very old building. Room was clean although everything was very old. Worst part was the bathroom. It was my first time having a shower in such a bathroom!
The manager was friendly though we just met him for checkin and checkout. Not good for couples!
