Previously stayed in Wimborne but not at 1777. When we were unable to book our usual accommodation, we stumbled across this 'gem' and what a find it was. Rooms are fantastic - both the standard and superior are full of character with breakfast being served at the Olive Branch which is just around the corner. Staff are welcoming and attentive and the breakfast is not to be missed. Just home from our 2nd visit and we will definitely be back in Wimborne & will stay at 1777. 

Do not miss 1777 at the Albion 

We were so lucky to have found this place. We booked on the off chance and were delighted. The room was amazing. There was so much attention to detail. We loved the live images of the Minster on the TV and the bath in the bedroom. Highly recommended. We will definitely return. 

Fabulous place to stay

… no normal coffee - only decaf. 

We stayed here after getting married earlier in the day. Spoke to Sarah a year before our stay and she was so helpful. 6 rooms booked. No deposit required.  We stayed in one of the superior rooms with the copper bath. Room was beautiful. 
I love a coffee late in the evening and first thing in the morning. Unfortunately the tray hadn’t been stocked up and we only had decaf. 
My wife - sounds weird saying it now - had a bath in the copper bath in the morning and thank goodness she didn’t have it before bed. The tap didn’t stop dripping. We’d have had that all night. 
Unfortunately as lovely as a 4 poster is when a post blocks the tv it’s annoying. Neither of us had a clear view. But we weren’t there to watch tv. It was just nice to chill for a bit. 
These are just small niggles. The room really was lovely.

Sarah was great she called and checked me in as I was going to be late so made it stress free

Fantastic stay

Located only a few yards from Wimborne Minster, 1777 at the Albion used to be a pub in the centre of town.  It is now a handful of rooms converted very well from what might have been a stable block. So, the door to our room opened directly onto the outside alleyway and free parking area.  It was a reasonable sized room with a good bathroom with a shower and a comfortable 5-foot double bed. There wasn’t much space, but enough to hang some clothes, store a suitcase and a small desk/dressing table.  The room was beautifully furnished and had only recently been refurbished.  From the big screen TV, to lovely scatter cushions, to a Roberts Radio and fast free Wi-fi, there was a lot to like.  Perhaps nicest of all was a very warm welcome from Sarah, and a small garden where we could sit out and enjoy a bottle of our own chilled white wine in the summer sunshine.  The location was quiet and very convenient for wandering around the town.  But there is nobody on the premises in the evening and breakfast is a 5 minute walk away at the other end of the town – and only served from 8 am.  We had an early start, so we never even go to see the breakfast.

Very convenient for Wimborne town!

Soo disappointed not to have loved 1777 as much as I’d hoped but, quaint and quirky as the room was and as lovely as Sarah is, the stay overall was let down by a few issues that all added up to not a great stay.

Plus points mentioned above- and they really are very good plus points - but we came back early wanting to watch a film on the smart TV but got nothing except an error message saying there’s no internet connection. 

Tried to have a shower but the water was freezing cold all evening.

The reception is ‘unmanned’ so guests are advised to call the sister pub  - tried and got the ansafone twice. Then reluctantly tried the emergency number for help -  three times. No answer there either despite leaving messages.  Just gave up in the end.

Left 1777 feeling pretty gutted tbh. We’d only come back to the room early as our evening meal in the sister pub wasn’t very good so it all adds up to a poor experience overall. I do however recommend their breakfast.

Pretty disappointing

rooms with character, comfortable bed , selection of teas coffee and hot chocolate in the room .centre of town. Breakfast in he nearby olive branch was lovely and included in the price. Highly recommended , Sarah in particular made us feel very welcome and helped us out with late check in as we were arriving late . 

Lovely quirky rooms with character, comfortable and clean.would highly recommend and definitely would stay here again 

The restaurant is their sister pub, which had run out of most things on their menu. It's also where you're  directed  for breakfast. Basically not as advertised. Best to stay elsewhere. 1777 doesn't even have a Pub!

Breakfast is not on sight

We stayed in room 10 which was really spacious and comfortable. The copper bath was amazing. Filled up very quickly and lovely to relax in at the end of the day.
The room is quite dark, so I think an upgrade to the lighting would be good and also the shower does tend to go freezing cold and then boiling hot every couple of minutes. Probably a faulty thermostat. Also privacy glass on the bathroom windows would be nice. 
These are little niggles though and did not detract from our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff are lovely. Free parking was really welcome and we never had any problems finding a space. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits were supplied and housekeeping were more than happy to top up or supply extra if required.
We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again. Wimbourne is a fantastic little town. Good range of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. I particularly recommend Renoufs. We had a fantastic evening there, but to be honest, everywhere we went was welcoming and the range of restaurants is really good.

Lovely - would recommend

Stayed here for 2 nights we payed £110 a night for this place and were told breakfast was included in this extortionate  price for only coffee, a poor choice of cereals and a few stale croissants to be available, tea you had to  pay extra for which we have in our room complimentary, why would I then pay for this a few yards away were I can get it for free, When speaking to staff about how this and simply asking why this was the case we were confronted by an obnoxious manager who’s only response was ‘okay’ rooms were freshened but given no extra toilet paper so ran out by the first night. walls are paper thin and windows don’t cancel out any noise so don’t expect to get any sleep here. Stayed in room 5 and wardrobe didn’t close and blind was broken so couldn’t put up or down.
I don’t normally post reviews but this had to be said 
The only positive about this place is the location the town is absolutely beautiful so if you’re thinking of staying there pick another hotel.
