Can not recommend this place enough. Its central just of the little bridge set back in a beautiful little courtyard. Room was small but beautifully decorated. Everything we needed. Very oldie worldy. Our next trip to Whitby will be here if we can get in. Very clean and in the centre of everything.

Amazing room great location outside was lovely area seats fish lights and decor . Huge bed and bath seating area sofa and flat lounge type bed tvs each room best room I have ever had in uk utter bliss little accessories added character books yoga mat lots of charm have posted and recommended to others already only downfall wish stayed longer x thank you for making our break special loved the loft room others looked awesome too !! Smellies all where lush too x

Fantastic location and awesome place 5star

Fantastic property lovely and clean friendly staff and a pure little gem

We booked last minute direct with the venue, and were pleased to find accommodation that was quirky and attractive.  We particularly enjoyed having a balcony overlooking the garden courtyard, and being so close to the centre of the old town.  For breakfast we can highly recommend Mr Cooper's Coffee House, and for entertainment we really enjoyed the twilight boat cruise on the Summer Queen.  

Great for a short break

Great place to be able to walk everywhere in Whitby. Considering its central position, it’s remarkably quiet! Very cosy room and had every amenity at a reasonable price. Highly recommended. No on-site parking, but public parking is nearby so not really a problem.

Perfectly situated to walk everywhere in Whitby.

This was a lovely little hideaway right in the middle of town but tucked away and quiet. Very comfortable and clean room with a balcony over the beautiful courtyard, and delicious food just next door. Perfect spot to relax and unwind, and see all the sights of Whitby.

Delightful hidden gem

Booked through booking.com for a 1 night stay, fell in love with the place at first sight,
We got the dove loft room it’s like a mini apartment, with a lounge with TV sofa and sofa bed,second room with free standing bath and sink, separate  toilet room, and a nice size bedroom, you get all bath/wash products and lots of tea and coffee, no wardrobe so pack some hangers as there is little hooks on doors to hang things. We would definitely visit again and book this room.

A little Gem

A fantastic location right in the centre of Whitby ! Peaceful courtyard packed with plants , quirky antiques and a comfortable room complete with lace and lots of special touches . We had the best few days browsing the shops, walking along the beach and returning to our lovely room ! The Shepherd’s Purse is definitely a place to return to and we hope to as soon as we can .

What a Hidden gem of a hotel. From the essentials like cleanliness and comfort down to the small details with locally sourced eco friendly soap / shampoo / conditioner to 4 types of tea, 3 types of coffee, wine glasses.and a stack of towels on the bed with a flower on top. I cannot fault it in the slightest. Me and my wife spent more time in the hotel room than we did exploring Whitby. I was too cosy to leave. And i have stayed in MANY a hotel in my years and this is by FAR and AWAY the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. Add to that the balcony with table and chairs with a lantern to the spa bath which wasted several hours in. It wasnt just a hotel it was an experience all of its own. Thank you Sophie for such a wonderful trip.we will definitely be back

Hidden Gem

We stayed for one night in this little hidden gem in Whitby. We were in room one which is in the courtyard with table and chairs outside on the decking. The room was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean throughout. It’s on the small side but what it loses in size it makes up in character. Beautiful bed linen, fresh coffee for the cafetière, a rainfall shower in the bathroom and a location which is probably one of the best. Parking is a 5 minute walk and was £9 for 24 hours. Having visited Whitby several times we wished we had discovered this hidden gem before. We will be returning for sure.
