WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE. 
Booked this hotel for a business trip last minute (only room available in Retford for the 4 nights I needed) and it was so bad we left after 10 minutes. 
Mould all over the bathroom, toilet broken and infested with spiders. The bed and pillows were “crumbly” covered in stains and smelt. The room was freezing and damp. 

We didn’t stay the night yet have been charged £190. I have contacted booking.com and they were super unhelpful. There’s no answer from the hotel themselves. 
Apparently all I can do is leave a review, warn others and lose my money. Disgusting.

Hi wouldn’t recommend this hotel has it is noisy and a girl with long Ginger hair was Shouting out side with the music blaring out what work in front of house couldn’t sleep and and the food look nice but with her hair down I wouldn’t eat here and it’s smelt of weed and Piss went for a walk as I couldn’t sleep a boy and a girl was sat outside smoking weed they looked really scruffy not a good impression I would give this hotel a wide birth

Noisy

First impressions as going up stairs ..filthy worn stair carpet. Room 6 is attractive with beautiful windows and view of the church. Staff said air conditioning not working, evident from the windows streaming with condensation. Bed very soft. 1 flat pillow, lots of black mould which is dangerous around the shower so i didnt use it. Great location but needs a lot of attention hence i dont recommend staying here! 
Management need to get their act together and hope health and safety dont visit anytime soon.

Cheap but definately not cheerful

Room has no cutlery, The TV doesn't work, the heating is not working properly, shower curtain fell down. Very noisy from downstairs & someone banging on another door after 2am. Not a place I want to stay in the future

Don't waste your money

Booked a 4 night stay as we were working nearby. First impression was quite good.outside parking .very central.and nice looking restaurant. Then all downhill from then on .checked in ok a d given key to our room upstairs walking up stairs were getting thread bare on way up to room.got to our room had only a double bed we booked a twin room.back down to bar and owner sorted a twin room for us.back upstairs again we were given room number six.on entry to room smelled really damp and foisty went to open a window here we go no opening windows mate noticed air con unit so switched that on to clear the air .great.room was a decent size with 2 single beds 1 double wardrobe small table with 2 chairs TV.small kitchen area with microwave. Kettle and small fridge.went into bathroom .shower was on the floor and constantly dripping tray and shower curtain were full of mould.disgusting really.after had shower sat on my bed thought I was going to fall through it was like sitting in an hammock mattress really soft.went out for our tea good thing every thing close by.got back to hotel at 10.30 pub and doors shut didn't realise the door had a electronic fob not told about it.got back it to room really cold went to put radiator on wouldn't work walked back round the bed and felt a drop of water on my head looked up the air con unit was dripping looked on my bed absolutely soaked through quilt sheet and mattress. Went downstairs to see someone not a soul about.went back up to sort bed out stopped everything off took sheets off and mattress protector mattress was absolutely disgusting soaked through a d covered in stains.health hazard. Found an electric fan heater in cupboard so set of trying to dry out sheets.after about an hour sheet was ok but room red hot again and stuffy.no opening windows ???.ended up just sitting in as armchair just what you need after a 3 hour drive and a 12 hour shift !!!.rang the owner in the morning he said he would get it sorted.so after a 12 hour shift again got to room aircon was still dripping bowl on the floor overflowing o to a towel we put down. Mattress quilt and sheet still stood up where we left them on the morning. Phoned owner again no answer.another night on the chair!!!.very noisy during night with people up and down stairs slamming doors talking loud till 3 n 4 in the morning. This hotel is more like bedsits. Tried the manager again as there is no one on site to talk to when pub is shut!!waste of time.just posted our keys back in the box and didn't bother going back have checked into the travel lodge for rest of the week .we definitely won't be returning to number 4 any time.avoid!!

AVOID!!

Fantastic venue cosy clean accommodation with little kitchen in room, Bar manager and kitchen staff are so friendly and welcoming, they make your stay very pleasurable, will definitely pay a return visit in the future.

What a stay.

The blinds in the first room i had were awkward  to operate and didn't  shut out the light efficiently. Cleanliness and comfort were spot on.The themed bar restaurant downstairs is very good.

Nice building in the center of Retford. It is over a resteraunt but there is no noise - food there is OK. Staff very nice. Room had TV but no control.  Staff member retuned it so it could be used manually. The light over the bed would not work as the pull switch had been pulled out. Comfortable, clean, quite establishment. Would stay there again.

Clean and comfortable but no service facilities. I only saw a staff member from the Diner downstairs throughout my stay.

No 4 Retford Review

Had a fantastic stay at the number four hotel! There was am issue with flooding before we got to the hotel do we had to be moved room. because of this we were given a complimentary breakfast for our trouble. The breakfast was the best breakfast and staff so friendly. Room was nice and clean, would happily go back.
