On arrival we were greeted by chantelle who was extremely helpful. The room was very clean and tidy there was plenty of tea and coffee and extra pillows if needed. The other members of staff Alex and Mark were also helpful in telling us good places to eat in all was a great stay and will ve returning when next in Portsmouth.

Great hotel with great team members

The picture of the outside was not up-to date, but this did not reflect the comfort of the rooms and convenient position. We were at the back of the hotel and it was nicely quiet. Plenty of parking - free.

Nice room and area

The Travelodge is ok but a serious problem for a none smoker like myself and other guests… the management cleaning staff and guest who I assume are there with the council stand right outside the door (next to the no smoking sign) where the smoking bin is may I add are all smoking and makes it really difficult to want to enter and exit the place as you are met each time with a long full of second hand smoke.. this is disgusting and unfair for the non smokers and also make the reception area smell really bad to… these needs to be dealt with by either management or higher ups as this is illegal and not very hygienic 🤢🤮

Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful for our special needs.  Would certainly stay again. Very well situated with a Toby Carvery right next door. And a Lidl across the road! Very clean room, recently recarpeted with lots of parking available.

Very helpful staff

I had the pleasure of being checked in by Kray at Travelodge Hilsea, and I must say, his customer service was exceptional. He was friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond to ensure my check-in process was smooth. Kray’s professionalism and attention to detail truly made my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend Travelodge Hilsea, thanks to Kray’s excellent service.

Excellent service

Staff are rude, lazy, terrible at their jobs (some not all). Management and head office allow these employees to do and act as they want. One in particular a night worker I refer to as “pikey-jo” or better known as Rachel. One of the most rude, unpleasant and unprofessional people I have ever met. Lies to cover her unprofessional standards. While her superiors just allow it to continue. She goes out of her way to seek arguments and does very little work and her customer service is the worst I’ve ever known. She should be sacked and given a job in pest control or just anything that don’t involve customers or professional standards. The hotel is dirty and rooms have a range of lax standards when cleaning rooms too.

Worst ever

I stay here regularly as it's so convenient for the ferry crossings to and from France. Kirsty has always been brilliant at making us feel welcome. When I came alone in August, she even offered to accompany me to my room as I often struggle to unlock the door. Our room was clean and comfortable and we slept very well with plenty of tea and milk available. Recommended! 

Welcoming Staff and Convenient for Ferry

Sadly while wanting to be close to the docks for an early morning ferry I booked the Central City Travelodge by accident instead of the one convenient one by the docks. I arrived at the hotel I wanted to be told I was at the wrong place. However Sean the receptionist was excellent in changing the Travelodge I wanted for a small changing fee. Nothing was too much trouble for Sean and he was knowledgeable and politely helpful. Later Harvey on reception was similarly helpful like Sean. The room was excellent with a comfortable bed, spotless well appointed shower room and all very satisfactory.

Excellent value

Dirty rooms, some, not all staff are rude, start arguments and lie through their teeth. Worst hotel I have stayed in I will not be returning or recommending. Lynda the supervisor is great, very professional and helpful.

Terrible

Very comfortable quiet hotel in great location for European ferry port. Good sized ensuite rooms with tea and coffee making facilities with king size comfortable bed. Pleasant helpful staff and within walking distance to all day eaterie.
